Space was not what I expected.To be fair, I had never expected to travel through it.So my expectations were admittedly limited.Still.I expected darkness.Silence.Cold emptiness.Instead, the journey felt like sailing through a story.Which, considering our lives, was becoming alarmingly normal.The Wayfinder glided along the silver road effortlessly.Its sails caught currents that didn't exist.Its lanterns glowed warmly against the endless sky.And the stars—the stars were alive.Not literally.Probably.Hopefully.But they felt alive.Every light seemed closer than before.Brighter.More personal.Like old friends finally introducing themselves.I spent the first three hours staring over the railing.Then another three.Then another.The crew eventually staged an intervention."You're going to fall over.""I won't.""You nearly did twice.""Those were scientific observations."Hope looked unconvinced.Reasonably.The Wayfinder sailed onward.The silver road stretched endlessly
