All Chapters of Twisted Vows: Chapter 31 - Chapter 40

The journey continued and Carolina kept stealing glances at the ring even though she held a book, she couldn’t concentrate “How long is the journey?” she asked “it’s far, we might have to spend the night somewhere else.” “You don’t drive at night?” “It’s going to rain tonight, I don’t drive when it rains” he said “Why didn’t you take flight then?” “because I have free will?” he glanced at her and Carol kept mute. She placed her hand on her stomach and looked outside the window, she hadn’t talked in a while but she seemed stressed “You don’t go on, rides do you?” he asked “I just get sick easily” she said weakly. The car came to a slow stop and Carolina got out of the car to feel the breeze. It was at night already and she sat at the bus station to sit, Adrian got out and leaned on the car, he scrolled through his phone and glanced back at Carol. She looked obedient and somehow still shined while looking like anything but an heiress. They continued the journey when Adr

At night, Adrian got dressed and headed towards the door. Carolina flew to her feet. "Are you going somewhere?" she asked. "Why?" "It'd be nice to step out," she said. "No," he answered almost immediately and walked through the door. "Not with that dress," he said. "I'll change," she flew to her bag and paused when she realized all her clothes were literally chopped. "Well damn," a dress dropped out of her hand. "You can go on without me," she said. "Just wear what you have." Carolina jumped into a short white dress and dashed out of the door. "It's just a walk, why do you need a bag?" he asked. "You'll see," she said. They headed out of the guest house and met the other guest sitting around. "Where are you off to?" a lady asked. "Somewhere nearby." "Get back soon." They walked down a neighborhood without saying a word. "By the way, those scars on your body, how'd you get them?" she asked. "My body doesn't concern you," he said, looking ahead, his

~Next Morning Carolina came out of her room and walked towards the car where Adrian was. The bandage from last night was still on his head. "I can drive" she said. "Never mind" he walked towards the car then Carolina stopped him and took the key forcefully "Will you stop being stubborn and let me do this?" She pushed him to the passengers' seat before getting into the car "Ooh" she squealed before starting the car. "Let's go" she announced and drove out of the premise. Minutes into the drive, Adrian was holding on for his dear life "Everything's fine..." "Keep your eyes on the damn road!" He thundered then she turned the wheel "Oops, that was close" she chuckled. "By the way, are we stopping over?" "We left early, we'll make it home before the day ends" he said. ~Moretti Mansion. Night. ~Moretti Mansion. Carolina walked in first leaving Adrian behind "Carol.." Ashley approached her then stopped when she saw her swollen face. Carolina walked away to her room. "What happened now? Was it Dubois? Did he say something? Or did you say something?" Ashley's eyes widened "Almost. I got there in time" he said Ashley sighed in relief "Thank goodness" she said while Adrian's eyes were still fixed upstairs where Carol had just exited "For how long will you lie to yourself?" Ashley teased and he looked at her "Mind your words" he said and walked away. Ashley followed behind. Adrian leaned back in his chair while Ashley leaned on his table "Dubois, maybe he's after Carolina now, what'd you think?" Ashley asked "Of course" Adrian groaned and sat up right "He does that to everyone who has potential to destroy others" Adrian said "And is that supposed to be Carol?" She asked "Hmm, during that shooting at that bar. Dubois' men were present too. He probably knows" he said

It's been a year since Adrian left. No attacks, no sign of the empire until that night when it rained heavily. Adrian heard a cry from Justin in another room. He thought maybe he was scared of the weather, so he strolled casually to the other room. It was dark and Adrian reached for the switch when a feminine voice spoke "I tried to calm him" Adrian froze "Who are you?" "Come on, you're smarter than this, you know who I am" she said and Adrian switched on the lights. "Hi" the lady smiled with a lollipop in her hand "I guess you taught him not to take sweets from strangers" she said "he looks at me like a stranger now" she added "...just like you are too" her voice dropped low. Adrian looked behind him and saw Cassian with a metal bat hung above his shoulder. "Long time, Moretti. You didn't forget my promise, did you? A smile tugged at his thin lips. "Leave Justin out of this" Adrian said "We're not bad guys to hurt a child" the lady said and threw her hand around his sh
