Lahat ng Kabanata ng The Luna's Blood Moon: She Refused To Bow: Kabanata 31 - Kabanata 40

MENODORA'S POV My stomach twists like a wrung-out towel, the tightness of it squeezing the breath right out of my lungs.“There's no way in hell that Orvax feels anything for me, I'm just imagining it…” I try to convince myself, because that's much easier than facing the truth…whatever that may be. I mean, he barely tolerated people, so why would he ever care for someone like me…right?“You need to eat, for the sake of your medication," the healer interrupts my thoughts.“Not in the mood, I'm not hungry." Just at that moment, my stomach decided to make a very nasty and loud growl.“I think that's a lie," she chuckles softly, looking pointedly at my growling stomach.Just then, hurried footsteps echo across the bridge leading to the shed. A young guard appears, his breath coming out in heavy pants."Healer Sera,” he addresses the healer. "The association is looking everywhere for you." She sighs dramatically, rolling her eyes for extra effects. “Men and their need for control and th

ORVAX’S POV“They’re asking for the moon girl." The moment said that, a feral rage takes over my senses and I see red. It's a feeling of cold violence Every instinct in me turns towards one purpose and that's solely to protect her. I glance at where she stands just ravished from my mouth. Now she stands near the table on which the lantern lays. Her muscles are tightly locked, fear flickers across her face even though I can see the effort she puts into hiding it."Mine!” The force with which my wolf says it shocks me to my core. Never have I been so sure of anything the way I am so sure of her. This is not just a claim of ownership or mere need to possess. It's far worse, an element so ancient that makes the wolf inside me bare its teeth.I turn my attention to the guard who is still rambling on."The scouts we sent out spotted some suspicious movements near the cliffs and decided…”"Pass orders for the eastern bridge to be sealed immediately," I snapped, cutting him off.“Yes, Overlo

MENODORA'S POV Sleep didn't come easy to any one that night. The territory breathed and moved differently after the intruders’ attack. Orvax ordered for the security to be tightened and he seems more on edge, ready to pounce at any time. And the other wolves within the mountain walls, it felt like they were waiting for the next scent of blood. I am standing on the balcony outside my room, the one that gives me a clear view of the whole mountain side. From there, I stare at the spots of fire lights scattered from across the cliff below. On every bridge, I can count roughly ten guards pacing erratically, their strides short and sharp. The air around them is filled with tension as nervous energy fuels rapid-fire whispers that my senses manage to pick up. On the walls, archers stand with their bows raised high and warriors move through the village carrying weapons instead of supplies.“She will bring ruin to kingdoms.” The dead prisoner's words come rushing back to me. Looking around me,

MENODORA'S POV The storm finally ceased a little before dawn. That just made everything somehow worse because now, without the storm, the silence of the mountains felt heavier, more unnatural. I stay glued to Orvax's side at the upper gates while warriors are lined on the stone walls around us. Every one speaks in a hushed tone, like they're scared of the sound of their own voices. The wolves beneath the bridges are pacing back and forth in barely contained energy. There's fear in everyone's eyes. Beneath the hushed whispers and pacing feet, a quiet terror threads through the air. I can feel it in the unsteady rhythm of the collective heartbeats, the lingering stares at the older alpha that once stood before us and the terrifying expanse of the vast mountains.Orvax stands with a terrifying stillness beside me. Dressed in all black, his hair roughly pushed back from his face and hands clasped behind his back. He is the image of a quietness so absolute that the very shadows seem to re

MENODORA’S POV The quiet settles into the corners of the room. It is like an invisible, heavy blanket, pressing down on my chest until even the simple act of drawing a breath feels like a monumental effort. The room hums with the deafening roar of everything that had been left unsaid. The kind of silence that is only followed but terrible things.Through this, my eyes remain tethered to Orvax. I watch the fleeting expressions that cross his face, searching for answers to questions I don't even know. A few minutes ago, something I have never thought was possible crossed his features. That haunted expression of a man who couldn't outrun his past no matter how hard he tried.I feel colour drained from my face, but not at his father's words…I'm more afraid of what I see on his face. The older Alpha, like all predators who notice weakness, notices my dilemma.“Hmmm…interesting,” he murmurs. “You know, I was beginning to think you no longer knew how to feel shame." His heavy gaze falls on
