Sia's POV. Morning light filtered through the thin curtains of our bedroom, pale and soft, the kind that made everything look innocent even when it wasn’t. I woke before Mark, as I often did, but this time sleep had been thin and restless. My body still carried the memory of the night before, the ache between my legs, the way my fingers had moved under the sheets while my husband slept beside me. I lay still for a long minute, listening to his breathing, then carefully slipped out of bed.The hallway was quiet. The guest-room door remained closed. I stood there longer than I should have, my bare feet cool on the wood, wondering if Lucas was awake on the other side. The thought sent a fresh pulse of heat through me. I forced myself downstairs.In the kitchen I started coffee the way I always did, measuring grounds, filling the pot, opening the fridge for milk. Ordinary motions, ordinary morning, yet every sound felt sharper, the click of the switch, the low gurgle as the machine woke.
