The warehouse door shut with a solid thunk, cutting off the outside world. Dim overhead lights buzzed for a moment before Riley killed them, plunging the space into total blackness. Lena stood still, adjusting to the sudden change. The air felt cooler on her skin, carrying a faint mix of dust, metal, and Riley’s subtle scent—something like fresh sweat and electronics.“Installation’s ready,” Riley said from a few feet away. His voice was calm, professional. “Binaural setup, full surround. I’ll stay close so you don’t trip. Just tell me what you pick up on the technical side.”Lena nodded even though he couldn’t see it. “Got it. Let’s run the full sequence.”The system clicked on. A deep bass pulse started low in the floor, vibrating through her shoes and up her legs. Layered heartbeats filled the darkness—one slightly ahead in her left ear, the other in her right—creating that disorienting, inside-your-head effect. Soft whispers followed, breathy and indistinct at first. Female sighs.
