Kael POV The door to Helena’s bedroom clicked shut behind us as I tightened my hold on her while she still wrapped her legs around my waist. Her arms slipped around my neck, and before I could say a word, her lips found mine again. The kiss was warm, familiar, and full of the longing that always existed between us whenever we had spent too much time apart. No matter how many years passed, Helena still had that effect on me. She could pull me in with a single look. A single touch. A single smile. I carried her across the room without breaking the kiss. Her fingers slid into my hair while mine settled against her back. By the time we reached the bed, my thoughts had narrowed to only her. I lowered her onto the mattress carefully. For a brief moment, we simply looked at each other in love and lust. The moonlight spilling through the curtains painted silver highlights across her features. She is beautiful. Dangerously beautiful. I love her so much and she knew it. A teasing smile

Liena’s POV I stay seated in the sitting room, keeping my attention on the television while paying no attention to whatever was happening with them. At least, that was what it looked like from the outside. In reality, I wasn’t paying attention to the tv show either. The voices coming from the screen sounded distant. The colors flashed across the television, but I couldn’t focus on any of them. My thoughts were somewhere else entirely. I kept my expression calm and neutral. No anger. No sadness. No disappointment. Meanwhile, across the room, Kael, Helena, and Ethan were still together. From where I sat, they looked like a perfect little family. The sight should have hurt less by now. It didn’t. Every time I looked at them, I was reminded of everything that had happened. I felt like an outsider in my own home. I lowered my eyes to the plate of fruit resting on my lap and took a bite. Normally, I enjoyed fruit in the morning. Today, even the smell seemed strange. For a few moment

Liena’s POV Kael looked shocked. For a brief second, the emotion flashed across his face before he quickly hid it behind a look of excitement. A nervous smile. His eyes remained fixed on me as if he couldn’t quite believe what he had just heard. “Pregnant?” he repeated. The room was silent again. His voice sounded calm, but there was something strange underneath it. He looked at the doctor’s file being given to him by Mara. “Are you sure?” he asked. Mara immediately nodded as Kael continued. “The results are accurate?” He ask again. His question made my chest tighten. The doctor had already left, but it felt like he was questioning the result itself. “Of course alpha they’re accurate,” Mara answered sharply. Kael nodded slowly. His expression remained controlled. “Right.” He add. Then a few seconds later, he asked again. “There wasn’t any mistake during testing?” Mara looked annoyed now as I simply stared at him. Why was he asking so many questions? Then something sudde

Liena POV It was late at night when he came backin. The room was already quiet, the kind of quiet that felt heavy instead of peaceful. The soft light from the bedside lamp made everything look slower, almost frozen. I was still resting in bed, my body weak from everything that had happened in the past days. Then the door opened. Kael walked in. He was holding roses. Red ones. Fresh. Perfect. Like they had been chosen carefully, not out of love, but out of habit. He closed the door behind him with the same calm expression he always had. No rush. No emotion. Just controlled steps across the room with smiles. “Congratulations sweetheart,” he said flatly as he approached. His eyes briefly moved over me. I didn’t answer. He didn’t seem to expect me to. He placed the roses in a glass vase on the table near my bed. Then he adjusted them slightly, making sure they stood upright. Everything about him was calm. Then he turned to me. “I’ve been thinking,” he continued. “Once you are

Kael’s POV Just before I could say another word to Liena, my phone started to ring. I pulled it out of my pocket. The screen showed Helena’s name. I answered it right away. Helena’s voice came through, weak and broken. She was crying hard, gasping between words. “Kael… please… come home. The baby… I’m bleeding. It hurts so bad.” My face twisted for a split second before I locked it down. I didn’t wait to hear anything else. I turned and rushed out of the hospital room without a glance back at Liena. My steps hurried more even as I headed straight for the car. Once inside, I gripped the wheel tight and drove fast. My hands trembled just a little, but I kept my jaw clenched and my eyes on the road, maneuvering every little traffic. Just then, I received a pop up message from Helena as i checked and saw Helena had sent a picture. The image showed blood all over her clothes and the floor. It looked like a miscarriage. My chest tightened, but I pushed the feeling down. I had to get to
