The next morning, the Mooncrest gates opened before sunrise. A cold mist drifted across the forest as five riders disappeared into the trees. Rowan rode in the same carriage with, the silver pendant tucked safely beneath her cloak. Kael followed close behind. Behind them rode two of Rowan’s most trusted soldiers. There carriages looked casual, if anyone should come across them, they would appear to be nothing more than ordinary travelers. The rest of the alliance remained behind. They would prepare for war. For hours, each rider remained lost in their own thoughts. Aria found herself touching the pendant more often.
