Natalia's POVBy the time the maids returned, the lingering ache in my head had faded into nothing more than a dull discomfort.A soft knock sounded on the door before one of the maids entered, carefully pushing a polished wooden trolley toward the bed. A white linen cloth covered most of the dishes, while the pleasant aroma that filled the room immediately reminded me just how hungry I had become."My lady, your lunch is ready," she said with a respectful smile."Thank you," I replied before moving closer.The maid placed the trolley beside the bed and neatly uncovered each dish one after another.There was a bowl of creamy vegetable soup seasoned with fresh herbs, slices of roasted chicken glazed lightly with butter and garlic, mashed potatoes whipped until smooth, steamed carrots and green beans, freshly baked bread still warm from the kitchen, and a small plate of sliced apples, grapes, and strawberries.
