The snow fell heavy and thick outside the remote mountain cabin. Emma pulled her sweater tighter around her body as she stared out the big window. At twenty, she had come to the family reunion hoping for a quiet weekend. Instead, the storm had trapped them completely. No power lines, no cell service, just the five of them in this big wooden house.Her stepbrother, Jake, who was 22, stood beside her. His shoulder brushed hers as he watched the snow pile up. "Looks like we're not going anywhere for a while," he said, his voice low. Jake had grown tall and strong over the years.
