“What did they do to Aunty Sandra, Lucian?” He didn’t answer my question immediately. Instead, he lowered his head and rubbed both hands over his face. The room went silent. The only thing I could hear was the ticking of the old wall clock hanging above my television. I turned to Blake. He was behind me, staring at Fox with worry in his eyes. I returned my gaze to Fox. He was still mute. I didn’t want to push him with more questions because I could tell he was carrying a heavy burden. Right now, Fox didn’t look like the calm and charismatic driver I had met, or the confident Lucian I remembered from sixteen years ago. I didn’t really know what was going on with him, but all I could see was that he was broken. I stretched out my hand and gently tapped his shoulder, trying to comfort him.
