Serena's POVI pulled on my jacket and stepped out of the clinic. I headed straight for the female hostel. There were so many things I needed to fix.My senses were sharper than usual as I approached the female hostel. I heard voices clearer and saw color in brighter shades. I felt alive, refreshed.~Where's my phone? I'm sure Mira will know where it is.~I pushed through the dorm door and found Mira arranging clothes in her closet."Mira?"I ran over and threw my arms around her in a tight hug.She let out a laugh as she hugged me back."You're back," she said. "I was going to check on you after lunch."I pulled back from the hug. "Tyrell said I can go. He didn't see any poison in my blood and my memory is back.""So you remember everything?""To a reasonable degree, yes.""You remember I'm your best friend, not Vessa?""Vessa? Have I ever interacted with Vessa? You're the only friend I have on this campus. You and Josh.""Oh, you remember Josh, too? You know he's your boyfriend?""Y

Serena's POVThe moment we got into the common room, Josh locked the door and turned to face me. He pushed me against the door. My back hit the wood as his mouth crashed onto mine again. Our kiss was rougher this time, hungrier. We were both turned on, and we were here to explore each other's bodies without distraction.Josh's tongue slid against mine and I moaned into it. My fingers curled into the damp fabric of his training shirt. He slid his arms under my thighs and lifted me off the floor. I locked my legs around his waist. His hard cock pressed right between my legs through our clothes.~Damn. He's rock hard.~He took us toward the bed and his cock rubbed against my pussy all the way, his mouth never living mine. He kissed me like he was starving for the taste of me. Well, it had been so long since we did this.Josh threw me onto the couch. A squeal escaped my lips. He leaned on me and tugged on my jacket. I arched so he could yank it free and toss it somewhere. My pants followe

Michelle's POV~Sentinels Accord suffers losses capturing a Dracti up north. The notification popped on my phone right after I finished dinner. My hand went cold around the phone. I scrolled through the little detail the article gave. A Dracti went rampaging in the north and the Sentinels had to battle it. But the presence of a Dracti meant the Dractharis were close. My chest tightened. I wished Josh and Mira were close by. I wouldn't have to worry so much about their welfare. ~I need to check on them.~I dialed Josh's number first. My fingers trembled slightly as I pressed the phone to my ear.It rang and rang. No answer.I tried Mira next. Same result. The call rang until it disconnected on its own.~Maybe they are busy with training or something. But isn't it too late for training? They must be busy somehow.~I told myself that, over and over, but I didn't fully believe it. A voice kept whispering in my mind that there was something wrong.I tried Josh again a minute later. Sti

Vessa's POV Kayla and I were on our way back from the dining hall, heading to the female hostel. I thought about Caden. How he stepped away when it looked like we were getting close. We were having a heart to heart conversation and he just walked away. He'd been avoiding me since then. I didn't know what else to do to win him over. His father's announcement should have done the trick. But he was still as stubborn as ever. "Look at that ," Kayla whispered. "What?" Kayla pointed tactfully. I followed her hand and saw Serena and Josh walking hand in hand, coming from the common room. "Looks like they made up," Kayla muttered. "That's clear." I nodded. "But I don't understand how. After what he said to Mira. How can Serena forgive that so easily?" Kayla shrugged. "Maybe she doesn't think he's serious." "What do you mean? I told her myself and she cut him off. I don't know why she can allow him back in her life." I kept my eyes on them as they kept talking and whis

Grimshaw's POVI sat on the edge of the bed, unwrapping another candy from the bowl I bought at the hotel front desk. My eyes were glued on the TV, but my mind was wandering. It had been five days since I left Lord Veron's office. Six days of aimless drifting. Five days of agony. Two teams chased a puck across the ice on the TV. From the way commentator's voice constantly rose, I could tell it was a big game. I chewed slowly, watching the two players collide against the boards, and immediately drop their sticks to fight each other.I sighed and flipped the channel.A news anchor sat behind her desk, rolling off numbers about the number of people who have left the city. A headline flashed on the screen. Dracthari Fears Spread Across the Realm. The feed cut to a man on the street. I could tell he was a farmer from his hat, boots and dirty pants."I saw two of them deep in the woods. Tall, huge. Their skins aren't like ours. They have skins of metal. My grandfather told me stories about

Caden's POVI stepped into the arena and scanned the stands. Mira wasn't there.~She's probably still training. Or intentionally avoiding me.~I pushed the thought off my mind and focused on the fight ahead. I strolled toward the ring, doing my best to stay relaxed. We were at the crucial stage of the competition. Any mistake at this point meant elimination.I stepped into the ring and waited for the instructor to give the word for opponent to be revealed. My partner joined me in the ring. He was a broad-shouldered dude from Duskwall named Dax.He ignored me and I looked away from him as well. They called us partners for this fight, but in reality, we were enemies, competing for one spot in the next round. The instructor raised his hand. "Begin!"I shifted right away. Wings burst free my shoulders and the rest of my body settled into a winged lion form. Beside me, Dax shifted into a massive bull with huge curved horns. His hooves shook the ground with every step he took. The gate at t

Serena's POVMira and I left the arena right after Caden's fight. She wanted us to go the hostel together, but I told her I wanted to see Josh. "I didn't see him in the arena.""Oh, okay," she said. There was a hint of sadness on her face. I wanted to talk to her about Caden. She obviously loved him. So why was she denying herself happiness? Well, we would talk about that later. Mira left me and headed to the hostel. I whipped out my phone and dialed Josh's number. It rang and rang, but he didn't answer. I tried again. Same thing.I went straight to the male hostel to check on him. His bed was empty. "Do you know where Josh is?" I asked the dude next to his bed. "Probably out training.""Thank you." I left the male hostel and went to the training yard. Josh was there, working through combat drills against a padded post. I leaned against the fence and watched him for a long while. At some point, he shifted to his Bengali tiger form and attacked the post. He did a couple of jab

Aldric's POVOrven arrived at the palace just after nightfall. I opened the door to my private chamber and he stepped in, while bowing his head.A heavy bag hung off his shoulder. His grim face told me we were about to get down to serious business."You have everything ready?" I asked as I walked beside him."Yes, my Lord."Orven set the bag down on the floor, and I watched as he started unpacking the contents gently. He laid out everything on the floor. A bundle of dark incense sticks bound with red thread, an ancient book with leather cover with a pair of wooden miniature statues. He stood and looked at me."My Lord, I still don't think this is a good idea.""We already talked about this.""I know. I just want you to realise what you're getting into before you take the final step. Nobody has done this ritual in fifty years, there are lot of risks."I sighed and shook my head. "There's nothing you'll say now that will stop me from going ahead with the ritual. We need to find the last

Aldric's POVThe axe came down, aimed at my head. I closed my eyes and sighed. There was no escaping from this.I kept my eyes closed and waited. But I didn't feel the blow I expected.~What's going on?~I opened my eyes and realized everything had stopped. The axe hung frozen inches from my head. The spirit's arms were locked mid-swing. Corwin and Fenn stood frozen too.A sudden beam of white light filled my study. From the intense brightness, a snow white dragon emerged. It filled the space above me, scales bright enough that I had to squint.I recognised the dragon as the last First Elder, the one I struggled so hard to find."I see what you're doing," the dragon said, his voice rumbling. "I see your struggles to save your people. I won't let you perish here.""Thank you, Elder.""There's much left to do. Take this!"It pointed one massive claw at me. A ball of fire emerged from the claw and hit me square in the chest.I gagged. My stomach lurched hard and it felt like I wanted to

Mira's POVI got back to the dorm to find Serena sitting cross-legged on her bed with her phone set against her ear.She threw her head back, laughing. "He still can't believe I cut him off."I gave her a small wave and she responded with a nod. I took my eyes off her and settled onto my bed. With a yawn, I turned on my phone's display and opened the document I started reading two nights ago.It was a huge history book dedicated to the first arrival of the Dractharis, to how the Guardians defeated them. The book also spoke in detail of the Sentinels and the earliest defenders of the realm.I flipped the pages, trying to find the page I stopped.A sigh escaped my lips as I realised I used to spend my free time differently. I would walk beside Caden between training sessions or gist about nothing important, laughing at things that weren't even that funny.Sometimes we would kiss in the common room until both of us were breathless. Now I was trying to replace those beautiful times by goi
