Lahat ng Kabanata ng The Mistake He Regrets.: Kabanata 31 - Kabanata 40

It had been two days since the kidnapping and rescue.Elysia had refused to go home. She'd refused to leave Kai's side.Declan, on the other hand, had practically refused to leave too.He wasn't about to leave his wife with another man. Every day, he'd return to the villa, take a shower, change into fresh clothes, then come back to the hospital with food for both himself and Elysia.Even though she'd refused to talk to him, she hadn't chased him away either."You should eat something. I had Martha prepare your favourite dishes," he said, setting the basket down.Elysia glanced at it before looking back up at him.The room was quiet except for the steady beeping of the heart monitor. She was sitting beside Kai's bed. He still hadn't regained consciousness, but the doctor had assured them he'd be fine.It was only a matter of time."Mr. Windsor," Elysia called quietly but firmly. There wasn't an ounce of warmth in her voice.Something twisted inside Declan's chest. She wasn't calling hi

Elysia gently felt Kai's forehead, her brows knitting together with worry. He smiled, reached up and held her wrist."I'm fine," he said.In a way, Elysia was just like her mother, Nicole. Worrying too much. Caring too much. The women of the St. Laurent family were kind-hearted.Sometimes too kind-hearted for their own good."Mom and Camille will be back soon. They're going to bring you something healthy to eat," Elysia said as she finally sat back down. The sharp sting at her side returned the moment she settled into the chair. She winced, hoping Kai hadn't noticed. He frowned anyway."Are you okay?" he asked. "You should be the one getting some rest."Elysia shook her head."I'm fine."Her thoughts drifted back to the encounter in the bathroom with Declan. For a brief moment, she'd wanted to believe him. She'd wanted to believe he was genuinely remorseful and that every word he'd said had come from the bottom of his heart. But the moment he couldn't answer that one simple question,

“You need to bring Elysia home soon.”Alistair's voice was calm, but there was an unmistakable urgency beneath it.Declan simply stared at his father. His mind wasn't even in the study. It was still back in that hospital bathroom.Back to the tears in Elysia's eyes. Why did you have to wait until I finally gave up?The question had been echoing in his head ever since. His phone vibrated inside his pocket. He ignored it.Alistair continued speaking as though he hadn't noticed.“If you don't bring your wife back soon... we're going to have a problem.”Declan slowly looked up.For the first time, he noticed something strange.Alistair Windsor… The man everyone feared. The man who never panicked.Actually looked... uneasy. It wasn't obvious. Most people would've missed it.But Declan knew his father well enough to notice the subtle tightening of his jaw and the impatience in his voice.Something wasn't right. If the head of the Windsor family was this anxious...Then wanting Elysia back w

Elysia glanced over her shoulder as she stepped into the hotel lobby."I have a reservation under Windsor," she said. The front desk receptionist looked up at her with a bright, professional smile."Oh yes, of course. Your husband is already waiting for you inside," the young woman replied. "Second table on your left."Elysia nodded politely. "Thank you." She muttered and turned to leave."Enjoy your evening at Heaven's Heather," the receptionist called after her.Husband...That would all be over soon. Her fingers tightened around the copy of the divorce papers Mr. Ansley had delivered to her that morning. She walked into the restaurant, the soft fabric of her wine-coloured satin dress swaying gently around her legs. The slight curve of her stomach showed beneath the dress. It wasn't obvious yet but it was there. Her eyes slowly swept across the restaurant before settling on Declan. He was already seated at the reserved table, his phone resting in one hand, wearing that same effortl

Kai laughed. It wasn't a chuckle or a polite laugh. He genuinely looked amused.Elysia had boldly asked to kiss him? What exactly was going on in that head of hers?He stared at her quietly for a moment. His gaze slowly dropped to her hands as her fingers fidgeted nervously with each other."Well..." she drawled hesitantly. "Can I?"The next second, Kai closed the distance between them.Elysia gasped softly, caught off guard by how quickly he'd moved without saying a word. Her back bumped lightly against the side of the car.She was now gently trapped between his body and the car.Kai lifted a hand, slid it behind her head and drew her closer before crashing his lips against hers. He'd wanted to kiss her too.He just hadn't expected her to ask so boldly.Elysia whimpered softly into the kiss.It made her head feel pleasantly woozy.Kai smirked against her lips and kissed her even deeper. He just couldn't get enough. One arm slipped around her waist, drawing her flush against his body
