Tamara.* I declined it in six seconds, thumb tapping the screen with a small, satisfied exhale. The decline notification sent an automated *recipient has declined* message, which I knew because Nora had pointed out this feature to me once and it had seemed unnecessary at the time. It seemed very useful now. The office around me continued doing what offices did — keyboards clicking, printers humming, the particular low buzz of an environment that was pretending not to watch.
