The second I stepped out of Heathrow, I realised I had made a very stupid decision.I stood on the pavement with my suitcase beside me and turned in a slow circle.Black cabs pulled in and out, people walked past me like they had somewhere important to be, everyone looked like they knew exactly where they were going.I didn't.I pulled my phone out and opened the notes app.London. That was all I had. There was no address or hotel.I let out a slow breath and rubbed both hands over my face, "great plan, Eve."A taxi driver slowed beside me, "taxi, love?"I looked at him, then at my phone, "no... thank you."He drove away. I opened every conversation I had ever had with Adam, scrolling until my thumb hurt. It was basically non existent and there was nothing useful.I dragged my suitcase towards the train station because standing outside wasn't getting me anywhere.Ten minutes later, I was completely lost.I stopped beside a map, staring at coloured lines that looked like someone had dr

I kept my mouth locked on his even when he stayed completely still under me. His lips were soft but they didn’t move. His whole body felt like stone, arms hanging loose at his sides, jaw tight, every muscle locked like he was holding himself back with everything he had. I pressed harder, tasting the faint salt of his skin, and still he gave me nothing.I broke the kiss just enough for our mouths to brush when I whispered against him, "please don't do this to me."I kissed him again before he could answer. This time I opened my mouth and dragged my tongue across his bottom lip. A rough sound tore out of his throat. He jerked his head back, breathing hard, eyes dark and wild, "you know I can't control myself around you, Eve."I didn’t let him finish the sentence. I fisted both hands in the front of his shirt and yanked him straight back into me, kissing him deeper, wetter, hungrier. My tongue pushed into his mouth and finally he opened for me with a broken moan that vibrated agains

Three weeks passed, and Adam did exactly what he said he would do.Nothing.I locked my phone and threw it onto the pillow next to me then pulled my knees up to my chest and wrapped both arms around them. My eyes burned again and I pressed my face into the top of my knees, trying to stop it but the tears came anyway. The door opened quietly and my mum stepped inside holding two mugs. She set one down on the nightstand and sat on the the mattress, facing me. She reached out and rubbed my back in slow circles the way she used to when I was little.“Eve, baby, you need to eat something. You’ve barely touched food in days.”I kept my face hidden and shook my head. My voice came out muffled and thick. “I’m fine.”“You’re not fine, you’ve been in this room for weeks. You don’t go out, you don’t answer your friends. You just sit here staring at that phone," She kept rubbing my back, “Talk to me. Please. What happened?”"There's nothing to tell," I sobbed, "I just really want to be alone,

I looked away from Adam before my face could betray me and tapped the next slide.“As you can see, the revised terms protect both sides,” I said, forcing my voice to stay steady. My fingers were freezing against the tablet. I could feel his eyes on me, but I refused to look back.I had never thought about this part.Running into him in hotels. Meetings. Airports. Sitting across from him while pretending he had not once known every inch of me.Someone asked a question, and I answered it without stumbling. Somehow.By the time the meeting ended, everyone was smiling and shaking hands. Priya squeezed my arm as we packed up.“You smashed that.”“I know,” I said, because if I opened my mouth too much, I might scream.Adam stood near the door speaking to one of the Bellandi directors. He looked exactly the same. Better, actually, which was rude. His suit fit him perfectly. His hair was pushed back, and his face looked calm. Completely fine.I hated him for that.I had moved on. I had. But I

“How the fuck did you get in here?”I didn’t move from the railing. My fingers stayed locked around the metal, knuckles white. Adam stood in the doorway still, one hand on the frame, the other loose at his side. His eyes stayed on my face. Was I hallucinating?“Door was open,” he said.“Bullshit.”“It was. I walked past and heard raised voices so I stepped in," he pointed over his shoulder , "my room is just across from yours."I didn't know how to feel. Hearing his voice after so long felt so foreign but it also reminded me of how much rage I had growing inside of me right now.I pushed off the railing and pointed past him toward the hotel corridor. “You had absolutely no right to step into my room, uncalled for."My jaw clenched so hard it hurt. He didn’t answer, he just watched me and that gave me the time to stare at him being so up close. He was dressed in his suit still and smelled like musk, like he was heading out.I didn't care that he looked good, I didn't want to give my
