CHAPTER 161~KIM~I thought about him every single day since the day I saw him.How shrunken he had become. How this was all my fault. How I could possibly fix this.I considered taking the paternity test and discussed my plans with Sam.“You should bring a kit from the infirmary today,” I said to her.“Why? Are you feeling any discomfort? Is the baby…”“The baby is fine.” I replied, “but we will need results to prove that Richard is the father, so…please, bring the kit to take the sample.”Sam took a deep breath. She didn’t need any explanation as to why I had arrived at that decision.“How do we get samples for Alpha Richard?” she probed,“I don’t know, Sam. You work at the infirmary, surely you must have something,” I replied, “or you sneak into the mansion, pick a brush or something. Anything at all.”Sam quietly stared for a few seconds.“You really want to do this.” She said, not as a question, but a realization that nothing was going to deter me. Not now.I nodded affirmatively

CHAPTER 163~RICHARD~Sam pretty much came out of nowhere and lured me away. She had the excuse of picking herbs to be around there at ten o’clock in the morning and also that she loved the view of the mansion that it had, but I was convinced there was a little more to that story than she was saying.Sam was the confirmation I needed to know that there was something behind that vine curtain and now I needed to know what it was, because I had a strong feeling it was connected to Matt’s charge earlier. He was calling for his mate and it meant one of two things; that Sam was my second chance mate, or that Kim was really alive and was hiding somewhere there and Sam had something to do with it. She knew something. Both explanations made perfect sense, but I was really hoping it was the second.I spent the entire day restless.I thought about the charge I felt when I touched the curtain. How overwhelming it was to feel Matt again, after he had pretty much died with Kim.At sun down, I got d

CHAPTER 165~KIM~“Don’t say anything,” Sam whispered to me before he got to us.“Good morning, Alpha Fell,” Sam greeted.“Good morning, Sam. I was just on my way to see you,” he said.I listened quietly.“Really? Why?” Sam problem.“It would appear you have the reason right here.” He said and turned to me.I looked away from him as soon as his eyes met mine, even though he couldn’t see my eyes through the dark shades I had on.“Okay? What reason would that be?” Sam still tried to play dumb.“Who is this?” he pointed at me.“Oh!” Sam laughed nervously. “My sister.” She blurted.“Sam, I know your family. You don’t have any sisters.” He replied with a straight face.As soon as I heard it, I knew it was going to fail immediately.“Right!” Sam chuckled, “what I meant to say was my cousin. She doesn’t stay here. You never knew her parents. She’s only visiting. You know after tracing a long-lost family member.”Sam was nervous, she was saying more things than was necessary.“I think I’ve se

CHAPTER 167~KIM~“Catherine?”I reduced my steps gradually and had now come to a halt in the middle of the stairs. It was a little bit of an ambush, since I had no idea she was coming, but I also couldn’t feign being very surprised.Richard did not want to admit it, but I knew he was there all the time, because his life was in the Fell pack.He spends more time there than he does on this side and that was okay by me, since I wanted him to see that he wanted to be there and not here, contrary to all his claims.“She really is here!” Catherine exclaimed at the sight of me.We held each other in a long and tight embrace.A drop of tear trickled down my cheeks.“And she really is pregnant!” Catherine added.I chuckled. It was a good day with Catherine, especially since it ended in Richard saying he was now ready to return as Alpha for Fell pack.I had many reasons to be tired of hiding, to desire returning to the mansion, but I never thought of Catherine as one of them.Spending the day

CHAPTER 169~Richard~“Whatever this is, I’m sure it can wait, Alpha Fell. This is an exclusive meeting to the Fell pack. When the pack needs to confer with other Alphas, you will definitely be reached out to.”Logan tried to be bold with his statement, but I knew him. I saw right through him. He was shivering and he was right to do so.“Step aside, Logan,” I said calmly, or as calmly as I possibly could, considering that I was suffering the most unimaginable pain.“What?” Logan inquired.“I promise you, Logan, I’m only going to say this one more time…step…aside.” I chose my words and made sure they were delivered with all the intentionality intended.“I don’t think you understand how this works. I am the Alpha of the region and you are…”“Doing what I should have done a long time ago.” I jumped in.“You are a lot of things, including a terrible Alpha, but I am glad blind is not one of them, because you can see behind you is my mate, with a pregnancy that was conceived while I was sti
