Lahat ng Kabanata ng He Crossed Time for Her, So I Left Him Behind: Kabanata 1 - Kabanata 8

In the last life, Luca saved me first.I survived the fire with injuries, but nothing fatal. During the days I stayed in the Romano private clinic, he sent flowers, private nurses, and whatever the doctors ordered for my recovery, but he never came to see me himself. He was busy mourning Celeste. He arranged her funeral, chose the flowers for the chapel, received every mourner, and stood beside her coffin as if part of him had been buried with her.Once, I asked him if he regretted saving me.If he regretted marrying me instead of her.He wiped my tears and said, “No, Elena. I love you. What I feel for Celeste is grief. She was once part of my life, so I owe her sorrow.”I tried to believe him. Then one night, I passed the chapel and heard him speaking to the elders.“I will never forget Celeste,” he said. “When my time comes, I will find her again.”His mother cried beside him.Luca opened a narrow silver locket. Inside was a strand of Celeste’s pale hair.“I saved Elena first because

Luca remembered the clinic only after Bianca had been treated and Celeste had finally stopped crying. When he arrived, my room was already empty. The sheets had been changed, and the discharge form lay clipped to my medical file. The doctor met him in the hallway.“Where is Elena?”“She left after sunrise.”“With that wound?”The doctor’s face tightened. “She should not have been walking at all. The injury reopened. By the time she was brought in, she had lost blood and collapsed from exhaustion.”Luca took the file.Delayed treatment. Blunt-force trauma. Excessive strain. He drove back to the estate and went straight to my room. Most of my dresses were still in the wardrobe, but the things I actually needed were gone.Only then did Luca go to the old Don’s study.Donna Sofia was there with the old Don and the family lawyer. When she saw the medical file in Luca’s hand, her expression changed from worry to disappointment.“You remembered her now?”Luca ignored the accusation.“Where is

The next time I went to the Romano clinic, Luca was already waiting outside the examination room.He stood by the window with his coat over one arm, looking as if he had not slept. When the doctor told me the wound was healing and that rest would be enough, his expression eased for only a moment before his gaze fell to the bandage beneath my coat.“I should have brought you here myself that night,” he said.I buttoned my coat. “That night is over.”Before he could answer, the corridor doors opened, and Celeste hurried in with two guards behind her. Her face was pale, her eyes wet, and she went straight toward Luca as if the rest of us were not there.“Luca, thank God I found you. Someone has been following me since yesterday. I think it’s the Vitales. Please, I can’t go back there.”In the past, he would have taken her away before she finished speaking. This time, he stepped aside before her hands could reach him.Celeste froze.Luca looked at her without warmth. “Are they following yo

Seven years later, I returned to the city for a restoration commission.By then, the Romano name no longer hurt to see. I had finished my training, built my own reputation, and learned to live without waiting for anyone to choose me.Before I left, Donna Sofia invited me back to the estate.I went because the past no longer had the power to keep me away.Luca was waiting in the study. He looked older than I expected. The sharpness was still there, but years of regret had worn it down into something quieter.“Elena,” he said.“Luca.”He looked at me for a long moment.“You look well.”“I am.”His eyes moved to my hand.“You never remarried.”“No.”For one second, hope appeared in his face.I ended it before he could misunderstand.“I chose my work. That has nothing to do with you.”The light in his eyes faded.Donna Sofia told me what happened after I left. Luca had lost his place on the inner council for a time, and the Vitales used Celeste’s stolen papers to damage several Romano rout
