ZAYDEN My fingers froze up. Cold sweat covered every inch of my back, trepidation swallowing me whole. “Something happened…something…” I muttered, my words mainly incoherent. My mind raced through every possibility at once, each one worse than the last. The sudden realization that I had been completely cut off from the outside world for so long, which left an opening for many things to go wrong, made my chest tighten. I had been so focused on recovering, that I hadn't stopped to consider what could be happening after I stormed off that day.
