The ride home should have been relaxing, but it wasn't, so the second we got home, I rushed to go to my bedroom claiming I was tired. "You’re still awake." Theo voice came from the lounge when I went down stairs to refill my glass long after we’d gotten home.“Geez.” I gasped holding a hand over my chest. “You startled me.”“You said you were going to bed.” He pointed out and I looked over to find him sitting in the same spot, he still hadn't moved from his relaxed position, one arm stretched across the back of the couch.“I came down for some water.” I waved the empty glass jar at him.“Come here.” He commanded but I didn’t move, my feet were frozen. What was he summoning me for, what did he want?He didn’t give me the chance to process my thoughts, instead he spoke again.“I said come here, angel.” He repeated his voice now firmer than before.Sighing, I dragged my feet across the floor till I was standing in front of him.“You've been quiet.” He murmured pulling me down till I was

-Theodore-I hated admitting when I missed someone. Not because I was incapable of it.Because admitting it meant accepting that someone had a hold on me.And I had spent my entire life making sure nobody had that kind of power.Except somehow, my sister did.Kennedy had been ignoring me for almost a week.Seven days.Seven days of unanswered calls.Seven days of messages left on read.Seven days of Noah politely telling me she needed space while my sister, the most stubborn person I knew, pretended I didn't exist. It shouldn't have bothered me as much as it did.She was angry. She had every right to be.I had hidden things from her.I had changed plans without telling her.I had made decisions she didn't agree with. But still...She was my sister. The only person who knew me before everything became complicated. Before the companies. Before the reputation. Before I became someone people feared.Kennedy knew the version of me nobody else did.The annoying younger brother. The boy who f

-Theodore-Noah pushed the door open and went in first.I followed. The room was dimmer than the hallway, curtains slightly drawn to soften the daylight. Medical equipment hummed quietly in the background. A monitor sat beside the bed, cables neatly arranged like threads connecting something delicate to reality.Kennedy was sitting up slightly, her hospital gown folded carefully around her stomach. One hand rested protectively over it.She didn’t look at me.That alone felt like impact. The doctor was already preparing the ultrasound machine. A small screen glowed to life, showing a grayscale interface that looked like nothing meaningful until you knew what it represented.Life.Noah stood closer to her side, speaking softly. “You don’t have to do this if you’re not comfortable.”“I’m fine,” she said quickly, too quickly. Her voice was controlled. But I knew her well enough to hear the strain underneath it.I moved closer. She still didn’t look at me.The doctor adjusted the gel bottle

-Evangeline-I should have known my day was going to go downhill the moment I woke up still thinking about him.Not Lucas. Not the mess my life had become. But Theodore. The way he had left me that morning without finishing what he started—like my body was just another thing he could set down and come back to later.Except he didn’t come back. And I hated how much that mattered.I sat through my first meeting trying to look professional, nodding at figures on a screen while my mind kept drifting in completely unprofessional directions. Every time I shifted in my seat, I was painfully aware of it—of the lingering ache, of the frustration curling low in my stomach like a problem I couldn’t solve.I crossed my legs.Uncrossed them.Tapped my pen.Pretended I cared about quarterly reports.I didn’t.At some point, I actually caught myself zoning out so hard that one of my colleagues called my name twice.“Evangeline?”I blinked. “Yes—sorry. Continue.”They did.I didn’t hear a word.By the

EvangelineAfter lunch, I went straight back to work. Not because I wanted to.Because I needed somewhere else to put my thoughts. My life had somehow become a collection of problems I couldn’t solve. My father. My mother.Lucas.Cora.My family.Theo.And somehow, the person I trusted most was also the person I was still trying to understand. It was exhausting. So work became the easiest escape.Numbers didn’t judge me.Reports didn’t ask questions.Emails didn’t tell me I was a disappointment. They were simple.Predictable.Unlike people.I spent the next few hours buried in my office, forcing myself to focus on anything except the conversation with my mother.Especially her last words. You’re just like me.I hated how much they stayed in my mind.Because the worst part was that I didn’t even know if I was angry because it was unfair…Or because a small part of me was afraid she was right.I pushed the thought away.I had enough problems.I didn’t need to create more.By the time I c

I woke up to the delicious feeling of Theodore already moving inside me.The room was still dim because it wasn’t even dawn yet. I lay on my side, one leg bent, and he was pressed tightly behind me. His thick cock slid slowly but steadily in and out of my pussy, stretching me open. He was already buried deep, his hips rocking against my ass with lazy, possessive thrusts. His cum from the night before mixed with my fresh arousal, making every glide wet and smooth.A soft moan escaped my lips as I blinked awake, my body responding before my mind fully caught up. “Theodore…”“Shh, baby,” he murmured against the back of my neck, his voice rough with sleep and lust. He gripped my hip firmly and pushed deeper, grinding against me. “You were so wet when I woke up. I couldn’t wait.”He held me close, one arm wrapped around my waist while the other hand slid up to cup my breast, pinching my nipple as he continued fucking me from behind. The slow, deep rhythm quickly built into something hotter.

-Theodore-I had spent my entire life learning how to read people. It was a skill.A necessary one.In business, people rarely told you what they wanted. They told you what they wanted you to believe they wanted.Everyone had an angle.Everyone had a weakness.Everyone had something they were hiding. That was why I was good at what I did.I watched.I listened.I calculated. But Evangeline Hale was becoming the one person I couldn't predict. And that irritated me more than I cared to admit.Because I knew exactly what she was doing. She was becoming important. Not strategically. Not because of the contract. Not because of Lucas.Because of herself. And that was the problem.I sat behind my desk, staring at the same document for the third time without actually reading it.The numbers made sense. The plan was still moving.Lucas was still falling exactly where I wanted him.Everything was under control.Except my attention. My attention was somewhere else.On a woman who had looked at m

-Evangeline-I should have known something was wrong the moment I woke up and Theodore wasn't in the penthouse. Not because he was supposed to be there. He wasn't.Theodore Duke was not the kind of person who spent his mornings lying in bed until noon. The man probably woke up already making business decisions before his alarm even had the chance to ring. But lately...I had gotten used to seeing him.Even if it was just him walking past my room while taking a call.Even if it was him sitting across from me at breakfast pretending he wasn't paying attention while listening to everything I said.Even if it was him irritating me before I had my first cup of coffee. The silence felt strange.Which was ridiculous.Because three weeks ago, I had wanted nothing more than distance from him.Now I was noticing when he wasn't around.A dangerous development.I sat up slowly, rubbing my eyes before reaching for my phone. No messages. No missed calls.Nothing.I frowned. Not because I expected o

-Theodore-I had spent years believing that the most dangerous thing in my life was having enemies.People who wanted my money. My companies. My downfall.Enemies were easy. You watched them. You studied them. You prepared for them. You never underestimated them. But nobody ever warned me about the danger of caring about someone.Because enemies were predictable.Feelings were not.I stood in my office, staring at the city below while my phone continued vibrating on my desk.I ignored it.For once, the world could wait. That alone should have concerned me.Because the world had never waited for me.I had built my entire life around moving faster than everyone else. Decisions had to be immediate. Problems had to be solved before they became disasters.Control was everything. And yet lately, control was the one thing I seemed to be losing.Because every time I thought I had figured Evangeline out, she did something unexpected. She laughed at something I said. She challenged me.She look

-Evangeline- I had always believed that the hardest moments in life were the ones where everything fell apart. The screaming. The crying. The heartbreak. The moments where you knew something had ended and there was nothing you could do to stop it. But lately, I was learning something different. Sometimes the hardest moments were the quiet ones. The ones where nothing was technically wrong. The ones where you were supposed to be happy. The ones where you caught yourself smiling and then immediately wondered if you were allowed to. Because happiness after pain felt strange. Almost suspicious. Like it was something temporary. Something that would disappear the second I relaxed. That was how I felt waking up that morning. Not sad. Not angry. Just confused. Because for the first time in a long time... I was okay. And I didn’t know what to do with that. I stared at the ceiling for a while before finally forcing myself out of bed. My phone sat on the nightstand. No me
