Evelyn's POV The echo of gunfire resounded in my head while the paramedics hurried to take Daniel from Sebastian's office. My hands were stained in Daniel's blood as I followed them through the hall not being able to think of anything other than the fact that Daniel got shot by coming to us and telling the truth."Move, please!" Sebastian's POV I looked at the small metal key in the hands of Evelyn, trying to comprehend why Daniel had kept it concealed from everyone before he was shot. Seventeen? It didn't make sense – at least until I understood that Daniel would not have risked his life for nothing."There is one more thing," Evelyn whispered. I turned to her and said, "What?"She carefully examined Daniel's fingers once more, and some object got visible between them, barely sticking out from under the palm. Evelyn's POV I just could not get the tape out of my head. The name of my father, the unknown partner of Victor, and the mentioning of a child just made me feel dizzy.I found myself sitting alone in the archive room looking through my father's notebook. The note under the strange symbol was still there.Never trust the man behind the door.I turned several pages trying to find something that would explain what had been discovered by my father. Unfortunately, there were too many notes which were not complete and several pages had been cut off.However, I found an unusual note hidden between the pages. The name was strange but my father never mentioned anyone called Samuel and if he wanted to warn someone, then this Samuel must have known the truth about the secret partner of Victor.I closed my eyes and tried to think. Damien's POVI had been investigating Victor's partner throughout the whole night. The more information I had uncovered, the more I became sure that the person controlling Victor was more dangerous than I thought him to be.Victor had never acted without any particular motive. Evelyn's POV Three days after the assault on Daniel, I returned to the laboratory. The danger was still around me, but by avoiding the laboratory, I would just give Victor another point to prove his success.I realized it immediately upon entering the research center. There were several officers next to the entrance, and two more stayed outside the laboratory.Sebastian was waiting for me next to my office. "You should not be here alone.""I am not alone. Sebastian's POV The laboratory doors shut automatically, as the alarm went on. I looked at the security guards outside of the server room when Marcus started running to the control panel."How did they manage to get in?" I asked, looking at the logs which Marcus was scanning with worried eyes."Somebody used Level One security clearance."I narrowed my eyes. "Level One?" Marcus nodded."It is available to just a few people." I looked around the room, knowing that Marcus was one of those people."Show me the log of access."Marcus showed me the screen of the security log. Trying to go back to my work, every glance at the formula reminded me of the warning – they were watching us.Sebastian stayed in the lab with me. Not saying a word since those threatening messages appeared, he obviously tried to figure out who betrayed our security system.Suddenly, my phone started vibrating. Looking at the screen of my device, I saw no number, only the video file. I hesitated to watch it.The video showed Sebastian walking through the parking garage.
