AVAThe pack archives stood before me, old and imposing. But heights or lengths would keep me from gaining answers today. The moonlight illuminated the immediate surrounding space. I wondered why my wolf stirred so wildly inside me. My eyes remained fixed on the stone building until I finally snapped myself out of the daze. The view was grounding, and its historical weight had a sobering effect on my nerves. AVAKael's hold on me was firm. The stolen file in my hand began slipping as my body melted completely into his embrace, my resistance dying out altogether under the heat of his touch. Kael's reflexes were quick. He caught the loose papers just in time before they could slip from my grip, his large hand wrapping securely around my lower stomach to keep them from spilling over on the floor.I felt a sudden pool of intense heat between my legs, and a shaky, muffled sound escaped my throat.My knees turned inward as my back arched helplessly off his chest. Kael's fingertips traced the file back up against my stomach, his fingers parting slightly. Instead, I had just paused blindly while he turned the next corner, standing glued to the spot like someone suffering from severe brain fog. "Miss Ava!""Yes!" I jolted, snapping my head toward the man who had called my name. My eyes quickly but briefly returned to the blank wall I was staring at. My brows furrowed in confusion as I realized I had not been looking at the architecture at all, but had wandered off deeply into my own thoughts instead."Please, can you come again with the question?" I asked, forcing my eyes to lock onto his. I cleared my throat and clasped my hands tightly on the desk. AVAKael's eyes caught onto my glaring ones, as I hurried toward them.I paused for just a fraction of a second. In his eyes was that same look, something similar to disappointment, but yet it was an expression I couldn't quite force out of him. Raiding the first archive was a gamble.Fortunately, I managed to sneak out with this piece of evidence that had given me insights and now, was beginning to morph into a pattern that furthered my investigation.
