Ariana’s POVThe water in the bucket turned dark as I scrubbed the Alpha hall floor for the third time but still Beta Harold’s wife kicked the bucket over again and dirty water splashed across my dress.“Clean it properly, thief’s daughter.”Laughter filled the hall and I lowered my head and kneel again. My fingers ached badly, but I kept scrubbing.Another woman then walked past me and muttered loudly, “I still don’t understand why Alpha Damien married her.”“Because her dead father stole pack money.”“No. Because she spread her legs.”More laughter and my chest burned, but I stayed silent.I learned silence three years ago.The day my father died. The day the entire pack gathered outside our house screaming for blood after they discovered millions missing from the pack treasury. My father was Damien’s Beta, his most trusted man. Then suddenly he became the biggest traitor in pack history, he died before he could explain himself. Some said he killed himself while others said Damien k

Ariana’s POVDamien’s wolf roared violently inside him and the sound shook the entire ceremony hall.Every wolf froze and for one second, hope rose inside me again. Maybe he regretted it, maybe he would stop them, maybe he would take the rejection back.I then turned toward him with tears running down my face.“Damien…”His jaw tightened and pain flashed across his face for one dangerous second and then Selene grabbed his arm tighter.“Don’t look at her.”Damien looked away from me immediately, that tiny hope inside me died again and the guards dragged me harder toward the exit.I stumbled badly and my knees hit the floor but nobody helped me.The rejection pain kept tearing through my body like blades inside my chest and I screamed again as another wave hit me.The guards threw me outside the pack gates carelessly and rain poured heavily from the sky and tnen one of the guards spit near me.“Stay away from this pack forever.”Then the gates slammed shut and I stared at the giant blac

Damien’s POVI have not slept properly in five days, every night felt worse, every hour felt worse. My wolf kept pacing inside my head like a mad beast.Mate. Mate. Mate. The word never stopped and I gripped the edge of my desk harder as another painful wave hit my chest.Damn it. Why did the bond still exist? I rejected her.I rejected Ariana publicly in front of the entire pack.So why did my wolf still scream for her? The office door suddenly opened and Selene walked in smiling.“Damien, you missed dinner again.”I said nothing and she walked closer and wrapped her arms around my neck from behind.Usually I would let her but not anymore. The moment her perfume touched me, anger rose inside me instantly because it was not Ariana’s scent.Nothing smelt right anymore, not my room, not my clothes and not my bed.Everything still smelt like Ariana. Her vanilla scent still covered my sheets and I still remembered the way she sounded underneath me on our anniversary night. The way she gra

Ariana’s POV“I would rather let you hate me than bury you.”My hands slowly fell from the door, I wanted to hate him, I truly did but his words stayed inside my head.I slid down until I sat on the floor and tears kept falling.“I just want to go home,” I whispered.Nobody answered and the room became silent again. The next morning, I woke to the sound of the door opening and I sat up at once.Kael walked inside carrying a breakfast tray, and he placed it on the table near the window.“I brought food.”I looked away.“I don’t want it.”“You need to eat.”“I said no.”He sighed.“The baby needs food.”I closed my eyes.“I don’t care.”His face became serious.“You don’t mean that.”I refused to answer and for a long moment, neither of us spoke and finally, he walked toward the door.“I’ll come back later.”The door closed again and a moment later, I heard the lock.Click.I covered my face.“I hate this place.”I did not touch the food.Hours passed and the tray remained where he left

Ariana’s POV“Blood.”The word left Kael’s mouth like a warning and I frowned.“What?”His eyes stayed on my legs and I followed his gaze.A small red stain spread across the hem of my dress and my heart stopped.“No…”My hands began to shake.“No, no…”Kael was already moving and he turned toward the door and shouted with a voice that shook the room.“Healer!”The palace seemed to wake at once, footsteps rushed through the hallway and doors opened, people shouted and I stared at the stain, unable to breathe.“My baby…”Kael knelt in front of me.“Look at me.”I couldn’t.“My baby…”“Ariana.”His hands held my shoulders.“Look at me.”My eyes slowly lifted to his.“Everything will be fine.”“You don’t know that.”“We’ll find out.”Fear swallowed every other feeling. What if my escape had hurt the baby?
