LENNY’S POVThe noise felt like a wall, It hit me the moment the doors opened. Shouted questions, the clicking of a hundred cameras, and the heavy thud of people pushing to get closer surrounded us.Jace held my hand firmly, his grip was warm and steady as he guided me through the crowd of reporters. I kept my head down and twisted the white silk of my dress in my fingers."Keep breathing," Jace whispered in my ear. "Just look at me.""There are so many people," I replied quietly. My heart pounded in my chest."They just want a story, Lenny. Let’s give them a good one."He pulled out a chair for me at the long table, I sat down and smoothed the silk over my knees. Jace stood beside me, resting one hand on my shoulder, his touch felt solid, like a shield. I wanted to believe that.A reporter in the front row stood up. "Jace! Over here! When did this start? No one even knew you were seeing anyone!"Jace leaned into the microphone, flashing that famous, handsome smile. "It’s been going o

LENNY’S POVThe sound of the lock clicking felt like I was getting trapped in the room, I stared at the door, then back at Jace, my heart was jumping in my throat."Jace, stop," I said, I tried to step back, but my heels hit the edge of the rug. "What are you doing? No one is watching us, rule numbertwo, remember? In private, we don't have to talk, we don't have to do... this."Jace didn't move away, infact stepped even closer. He was so tall I had to tilt my head back just to see his face, he looked at me with eyes that were dark and heavy."I remember the rules, Lenny," he whispered, and reached out and ran his hand down my arm, his skin was hot against mine. "But I also remember what I told you, for the next six months, you are mine and I have every right to touch what belongs to me.""I don't belong to you," I hissed, putting my hands on his chest to push him away. "This is an agreement, just a contract, It isn't real.""Your mouth says it’s fake," Jace murmured, leaning down, h

LENNY’S POVThe morning sun was too bright for my eyes, I rolled over in bed, clutching my pillow. My lips still felt a little tingly from Jace’s kiss last night. It was a weird feeling and I was supposed to be scared of him, but instead, I was smiling to myself."Oh, look who’s finally awake," Jenna chirped. She was already dressed, putting on her earrings in the mirror. "The future Mrs. Callahan has returned to the land of the living.""Stop calling me that," I groaned, sitting up. "It’s way too early for your energy.""It’s ten o'clock, Lenny! And your phone has been buzzing for twenty minutes, Jace is downstairs.""Downstairs? Why?""He said he has to pay his debt, something about Biology homework?" Jenna turnedaround, grinning. "What did you do to him last night? He sounded almost... nice on the phone.""I beat him at Skee-ball," I said, swinging my legs out of bed. "That’s it.""Sure it is and I’m the Queen of England. Get dressed. He’s waiting in the lobby and every girl in th

LENNY’S POV"I can't breathe, I actually cannot breathe," I said, staring at myself in the full-length mirror. The leggings were so tight they felt like a second skin. Every time I moved, they made a tiny shhh sound, above it, I was wearing the sparkly jersey. It was bright blue with Jace’s number, 07, stitched in gold sequins across the chest. It was itchy, heavy, and far too loud for a girl who liked to hide in the back of the library."You look incredible," Jenna said, clasping a gold hoop into her ear. "Stop complaining. You’re the main event tonight.""I’m not the main event, the football game is the main event," I argued, trying to tug the hem of the jersey down. "I’m just... the girl on the sidelines."Annette walked over, holding a can of hairspray, she looked me up and down, hereyes were sharp today, more focused than usual. "You’re not just a girl tonight, Lenny. You’re a brand, every camera from the sports networks is going to be looking for you so act like you belong ther
