Semua Bab MARKED ON ICE: My Alpha Roommate Is An Omega : Bab 21 - Bab 30

❄️ZOREN❄️I stepped away from Sapphire the moment the investors surrounding us turned their attention to someone else. I walked away because I had done enough pretending for one evening. My face was starting to ache from holding it so still for so long. The cold air outside would clear my head. That was the excuse I gave myself. Fresh air. Nothing else. Not because I wanted to see where the bird had gone. Not because I wanted to know why he had left so suddenly with his shoulders curled inward like he was escaping something terrible.I shook my head. No. That could not be it. I was not looking for him. I had no reason to look for him. He was an irritation. A nuisance. A problem I had not solved yetI did not chase after problems. I eliminated them. Before I reached the door someone stepped directly into my path and blocked it completely.Fucking Rylan. His hair was now sky blue and it caught the chandelier light and threw it back in shades that did not belong anywhere near a formal ev

🤍RAV🤍Red lights were on and they bathed the entire room in the color of blood.Broken bottles were scattered on the floor right where I usually slept.Shards of glass glittered on the dark fur rug. The room smelled like alcohol and it was so strong my nose burned from it.Whiskey.And by the window was Zoren fucking Maveth. He turned when I entered and his crimson eyes were darker than I had ever seen them. They were not focused and they were not cold. They were something else entirely. He looked like the first time I saw him in the locker room. Drunk and unsteady and dangerous.Shit he is drunk again. Before I could turn around and get out and run and hide, his deep voice vibrated through my chest."Who slept on my bed?" His eyes were fixed on me and they did not blink.Shit. I did.I did not even get to sleep for thirty minutes because of the stupid banquet. I had made sure to straighten the sheets before I left. I had made sure the pillows were fluffed. I had made sure there was

❄️ZOREN❄️My head felt like someone had driven a hockey stick straight through my skull. The afternoon light pouring through the curtains only made it worse. I sat on the edge of the bed for a long moment with two fingers pressed against my temple. Fragments of last night drifted through my mind like debris on dirty water.Whiskey. The banquet. The old man. Sapphire.Bird.My brow furrowed. I pressed my fingers harder against my skull. There had been vanilla cream. Sweet. Soft. Everywhere. On my pillow. On my blanket. On my sheets. I remembered grabbing Bird. I remembered demanding answers. I remembered his face too close to mine. His eyes too wide. His body too still. After that there was nothing. The rest was black.I pushed myself to my feet. The room tilted for half a second before steadying. The apartment was silent. Too silent. The kind of silence that meant someone had been here and had already left. The broken whiskey bottle was gone. I remembered it shattering on the floor. I

🤍RAV🤍Sweetheart.I sat on the edge of the examination table with the paper crinkling under my thighs and I let that word sit heavy on my chest. Nobody had called Rav Steele sweetheart in two years. Nobody was supposed to. I had built this whole person out of a deep voice and squared shoulders and a walk that swung wide instead of narrow, and here was this nurse looking at me like I was something soft, with Theron standing right there by the door watching the whole thing unfold."I fell during drills." My voice dropped low the second it left my mouth, automatic, a reflex I didn't even have to think about anymore. "It's nothing.""Mm-hm." She didn't even look up. She crossed to the supply cabinet and pulled gloves out of a box and snapped them onto her hands with two quick motions. "You boys always say that. Right up until it's a fractured rib and you're begging me for painkillers at midnight." She glanced back at me, her mouth curving into something teasing. "Hoodie off."I did not

🤍RAV🤍 "No." A laugh tore out of me, humorless, brittle, the kind of sound that scrapes on its way out instead of easing anything. "No, it couldn't be." Wren just watched me with those steady eyes and did not argue, which somehow made it worse. If she'd laughed back, if she'd told me I was being ridiculous, I could have believed her. Instead she sat there quiet and let the silence do the arguing for her. The universe could not possibly be this cruel. It happened once. One night, one drunk alpha, one mistake buried under suppressants and lies and two years of careful survival, and it could not just casually reach into my life and plant something there without so much as a warning. "Rav." Wren's voice was careful now, the kind of careful people use when they already suspect the answer is going to hurt. "When was your last heat?" I frowned. The question did not even make sense at first, like she'd asked it in a language I used to speak but had forgotten. "What?" "Your last heat.
