CHAPTER 71HARPERI paced around Pedro’s bedroom for what felt like hours, even though it could not have been more than a few minutes since he had left. My heart had refused to calm down after hearing the first explosion outside, and every time another loud sound shook the walls, my body jumped before I could stop it. I tried to look through the tall windows, hoping to see what was happening outside, but the angle was terrible, and all I could see were parts of the courtyard and the dark trees beyond it.
