CHAPTER 41A FEW MINUTES OF PEACE LUCIENThe moment I dropped the call with Marco, I called the other person ok my mind. After three rings, a thick, gravelly voice answered. "Moretti? CHAPTER 42EYES IN THE DARKLUCIENI wasted no time after hearing him. I rose from my chair, the napkin falling from my lap onto the polished wood."Finish your dinner," I said without holding her gaze. " The maid would bring you desert if you want it."She opened her mouth to say something, but I didn't stay long enough to hear her speak. The door clicked shut behind us, cutting off the warmth of the dining room, keeping us out of her hearing shot. And giving me the chance I needed to ask what I needed to. "What's the situation?" We walked towards the operations room, and in less than two minutes, we were there. The operations room has no rooms, lit by the blue glow of monitors mounted on the far wall. CHAPTER 43CURIOSITY WOULD ONE DAY KILL THE CATCHIARAThe maid cleared my plate, and I sat alone at the long dining table. The candles burned low, filling the air with a flowery scent. I should've gone back to my room, but my mind wouldn't stop running. Pushing back from the table, I walked out of the dinning room towards the garden. Going to my room wasn't going to cut it out for me.The night air was cool, carrying the faint scent of lavender and damp earth. Aside from the lights in the estates, the moon was my source of lighting as I found the same stone bench I laced earlier. It was tucked between the rose bushes and the fountain. I sat, taking in the ambience of the place at nightmare the old gardener was gone of course, so the garden was empty. Tilting my head back, I stared at the stars. My hand found my gun on instincts as I slid my finger to the trigger, pointing it to the intruder. “Oh my God!” She gasped out, raising both her hands as her eyes widened.
