LYRA.I carried the pail of water from the tap, eternally grateful that the White Citadel didn't make use of wells like Lord Bailey's residence. When Katya had asked me to take a pail of water to the king's chambers, I had been surprised. A WEEK LATER.LYRA.It was my second week in the White Citadel and I was slowly getting accustomed to my new life. The previous week had come with unexpected situations which led to me being marked by people I would have preferred to stay unnoticed by. Somehow, I came to the realization that princess Nuria may not have been as... kind as I had thought. She had randomly appeared at the servants' quarters a day after my ugly encounter with the dowager, asking if I was okay and advising me to stay far away from Alpha Ronan for my own safety.I would have genuinely mistaken it as a show of care, but the look of disdain in her eyes had forced me to see things for what they were.
