Camila's breath hitched as recognition dawned on her. The black liquid in Miles's hand was methamphetamine and she knew how dangerous it is to anybody with any heart condition whether after transplant or before.Miles approached her slowly. “Your expression shows you know exactly what this is.”Camila gulped down nothing, her heart beating too fast. Could she not escape this tragic fate? Was she destined to die by his hand?“Don't worry, I'm not that cruel.” Miles said, stopped a few steps away from her. “I just need answers. For the years we spent together, I'm ready to forgive you if you answer me honestly.”Camila bit her inner cheeks hard, she was going to be more than a fool if she believed anything coming out of his mouth.“I'll only ask the questions twice, there will be a reward for any correct answer and…” he paused, his face twisting into something sinister. He grabbed her hand the next second, placing the syringe needle next to her visible vein. “punisments. I won't show me

Aston spun abruptly to face Michael immediately. “Didn't you say she passed out due to shock?”Michael nodded, hurrying towards him. “Yes, her brain shut down by itself as the sudden chaos was too much for her to handle.”Aston pointed at the machine beeping louder now. “What's this? Why's her brain wave suddenly moving so fast?” Staying by Sienna's bed for more than five years taught him that an irregular brain wave was more dangerous than a single line wave.Michael immediately brushed Aston aside as he began checking Camila’s vitality again. Seconds later, his hand froze on her face when he saw the purple colouring appearing at the corner of her lips.“Aston, we need to get her to the hospital now.” He said, his voice heavy with urgency.Aston reached immediately to lift Camila off the bed but Michael grabbed his hand.“She can't be moved like that,” he said, bringing out his phone. “Let me contact the hospital's ambulance.”Aston hesitated before stepping back, his breath coming

Aston's hand tightened slightly against Camila but Michael barged in with two doctors and three nurses before he could reply, disrupting the tension rising in the room. “Mrs. Winston, do you feel any pain on any part of your body?” Michael asked, stopping beside her bed.Camila pulled her hand out of Aston's grip, realizing too late the words that had just left her lips. She pressed down on her lips, not sure whether it was shame, anger or embarrassment that overwhelmed her.‘Well done, Camila.’ she muttered to herself. ‘You’re just one week into your contract marriage with Aston Winston and you're imagining him loving you. Seems like you really hit your head so hard.’“Mrs. Winston?” Michael called, waving his hands in front of her. “Is your mind fuzzy?” “No,” Camila answered, shaking her head slowly. “I'm fine.”“Fine? You don't feel any pain on any part of your body.” Michael queried, raising a brow. Her head throbbed sharply like it was warning her to answer honestly. She touche

The words hit Camila like a blow and the reality was the voice was right. She would gladly accept the lie that Aston Winston doesn't love her than accept the truth that he does because to her, there was absolutely no reason why he would love her.Throughout her life, he had only met him once before her first visit to the Winston corporation and that was only in a broad meeting where she sat far across from him.Aston's phone on the bed suddenly chimed reminding her that it existed. She had wanted to ignore it at first but you know, curiosity kills the cat.She sat up immediately and picked up the phone. She was dumbfounded when she found out it had no password or screen lock.It was a huge red flag because she knew someone like Aston that manages a company as huge as Winston corporation has a lot of important files that needed confidentiality. The phone beeped again and it was a message from Braden. Camila clicked the message and it took her straight to their chat.“Mr. Winston, I'm

Aston turned towards Michael instantly, narrowing his eyes. “What's wrong?”Michael shoved the phone into his hands, his breath coming out heavy. “Play the video on the screen.”Aston spared Michael one more glance before shifting his focus on the phone. His hand hovered on the play icon for half a second before pressing down on it.“Camila, I'm giving you an hour and thirty minutes to come back to the Griffin's mansion and continue being my wife.” Miles's voice rolled out from the phone.Aston lifted his gaze up immediately, his eyes coming in contact with Camila's scared eyes and before he could react, she snatched the phone from him.Camila took the phone, her eyes sinking into her sockets when she saw the video. Her both parents were tied and placed on the edge of the rooftop with two men holding a gun to each of their forehead. But… the rooftop looked strangely familiar. Her eyes flickered to the window and realization clicked in her mind immediately. She jumped down from the be
