ElliotThe official invitation list arrived shortly after noon.Coach Harrison called the coaching staff into the strategy room before the announcement was released publicly. The players gathered outside the glass walls, pretending not to watch while failing badly.I sat behind the long table with my folder open in front of me.Elias stood near the entrance. He had no official reason to attend a coaching meeting, but tournament security had become part of every discussion. With twelve packs entering Mooncrest territory, the palace and arena were being treated like a military operation.Dad approved of that.I found it exhausting.Coach Harrison entered carrying a sealed black envelope stamped with the Regional Hockey Council’s crest. The room became silent.“This is the final list,” he said. One of the assistant coaches leaned forward.“All twelve?”“All twelve.”Excitement moved through the room.I felt it too. This was my first major tournament as part of a coaching team. My name wo

Elias“I hate that part of me still misses him.”Elliot’s confession remained in the strategy room long after he looked away.Damon’s face was frozen across the large screen, his expression cold and exhausted after Silver Moon’s recent match. Elliot sat in the padded chair behind the table with my handkerchief held tightly between his fingers. His other hand rested over his stomach.I wanted to tell him Damon did not deserve to be missed. The words rose immediately, driven by jealousy and anger.I swallowed them. This was not about what Damon deserved. It was about what Elliot felt.Feelings did not disappear because someone else considered them inconvenient. I had told Rowan that caring for Elliot meant respecting his choices, even when those choices hurt me.That promise mattered most when the hurt became real.I moved from the chair across the room and stopped beside the table.“May I sit closer?”Elliot looked at me.His eyes were still wet. After a moment, he nodded.I pulled the

ElliotThe pull came from the east.It was so sharp that I gasped and gripped the edge of the examination bed.The medical room blurred around me. Evelyn’s hand tightened around my shoulder. Miriam reached for my wrist, but I barely felt her fingers. All I felt was Damon. Not his voice. Not his scent completely.A presence.Strong.Restless.Searching.My wolf surged toward it.Mate.I shook my head.“No.”Another pulse struck my chest. This one carried direction.East.Silver Moon lay west of Mooncrest, but Damon was no longer in Silver Moon. The tournament preparations had already begun. Teams were moving. Official guests were arriving in nearby territories.Or perhaps the bond was not pointing toward his pack.Perhaps it was pointing toward the road he would take to reach me.My breathing became faster.“He is coming.”Dad’s eyes flashed gold.“He will not come near you.”The power in his voice filled the room, but it did nothing to weaken the bond.My wolf pressed forward again.A

ElliotThe official tournament draw took place in Mooncrest’s council hall three days before the visiting teams were expected to arrive.By sunrise, the palace had already become crowded.Pack representatives entered through the eastern gates carrying official banners, sealed team documents, and enough security officers to make the courtyard feel like neutral territory during a political summit. Hockey officials wore dark formal suits marked with the Regional Cup crest, while coaches and team administrators gathered near the registration tables.I attended as part of Mooncrest’s coaching team. The words still filled me with pride.Coach Harrison walked ahead of me with the head officials. Two senior assistants followed him, and I remained beside Elias near the back of the group. My loose Mooncrest coaching jacket concealed the small change beginning around my stomach. Miriam had prepared a mild scent shield for public events, and I had applied it carefully before leaving my room. The

ElliotMooncrest changed completely in the final days before the Cup.Silver and midnight-blue banners hung from every major road leading toward the palace. The Mooncrest crest appeared across the town square, arena entrance, guest halls, and training grounds. Workers moved constantly through the territory, carrying supplies, checking lights, polishing floors, and replacing decorations that looked perfectly fine to me but apparently failed Sophia’s standards. The guest quarters had been prepared for twelve packs.Security increased around the palace, arena, medical wing, and every road leading toward the eastern border. Elias attended meetings from sunrise until late evening, reviewing access passes and assigning guards to visiting teams.Dad insisted the eastern gates needed twice as many warriors.Lucas argued that the arena tunnel required more protection.Sophia was mostly concerned that the welcome hall flowers looked too formal.Evelyn somehow controlled all of them.I focused o
