Chapter 21

Ryan's POV "Ughhh, what the hell" I groaned out.My head felt like it had been split open with a sledgehammer as I pushed my eye lids open.It took me a full disoriented minute to even realize that I wasn’t in my own bed, blinking up at an unfamiliar ceiling before the shapes around me resolved into Derek’s living room. There were red cups still scattered across every surface, someone’s forgotten hoodie draped over the arm of the couch I was apparently sprawled across. My mouth tasted like something had crawled into it and died overnight, and the sunlight cutting through the blinds felt like it was trying personally to punish me for every drink I’d had the night before, which, judging by how badly my skull was throbbing, had clearly been a lot more than I remembered.I dragged myself upright slowly, pressing the heel of my hand against my eye socket, trying to piece together fragments of the night before, but everything past a certain point was just a blur of noise and lights and the

Mile's POV I found the video of myself around noon, unable to stay away from my phone any longer despite every instinct telling me not to look, and seeing it with my own eyes was somehow worse than just hearing about it secondhand from the ringing silence of my own humiliation the night before. There I was, frozen mid-flinch as the crowd around me erupted into laughter, Ryan’s voice cutting clean and cruel over the noise, and underneath the video, the comments had already piled up into the hundreds, most of them mocking, a few tagging people I didn’t even know, turning my worst moment into something for strangers to pick apart and laugh at from a safe distance. Chapter 23

Mile's POV I hadn’t meant to end up there either, not really, not in any way I could have explained if someone had asked me an hour earlier what I thought I was doing wandering into a place like that on the far side of the city,My heart was still hurt raw from the humiliation of the day before, aching for something, anything, that might make me feel like more than the joke an entire school had turned me into overnight. I’d taken a mask from the same server who’d handed one to the stranger already waiting somewhere down that dim hallway, some reckless, wounded part of me deciding that if I was going to be humiliated anyway, I might as well be the one choosing what happened to me for once, instead of having it happen to me in front of a room full of laughing strangers. The room I was led to was small, lit by a single low lamp that left most of the space in shadow, and there was already someone waiting there. A mask was covering the upper half of his face, and the second the door shu
