Lucero stood there long after she had left him. He stared at the door. Even without asking many questions, he knew that something wasn't right.She avoided looking him in the eyes, avoided his questions. She had even smiled too quickly.And when he asked where she was going, she had given him an answer that sounded rehearsed. The supermarket? What could she possibly want to buy that had her so nervous, and not her usual shy type of nervousness? His wolf whined as soon as she got out the door. Lucero forced him down.“Forget it. If she needed my help, she would call for me,” he told himself. He thought that after last time, she wouldn't hesitate to call him again.Lucero dragged his feet to his study, he opened his laptop and began working. Not up to two minutes later. His typing slowed down. He looked up.“Maybe she had a work emergency and she didn't want to bother me with it.” he thought.Yes. Definitely.“She's a strong independent woman.
