Audrey's POV I was back in my room at the palace, the scent of lavender and roses did nothing to soothe the ache in my back. Mai, Leigh, and Ann fluttered around me, their faces pale with worry as they stripped off the ruined gown. "Look at this!" Mai gasped, her voice trembling as she dabbed a wet cloth near the raw skin across my shoulder blades. "Goddess above, it’s horrible. How could they just stand there? How could the Alpha let those people speak to you like that?" I pressed my lips together and swallowed the cry that threatened to slip out . "They’re monsters," Leigh hissed, her eyes shining with tears. "The whole royal family! Look at the way they act like you aren't even human." "I’m calling Alpha Ashton," Ann declared, her hands balled into tight fists as she headed toward the internal phone line. "I’m reporting this directly to your father.
