Ophelia's POVThe Foundation's bus pulled out of the parking lot at exactly seven-thirty. True to my word, I'd arrived ten minutes early. The morning air was cool, and the city was only beginning to stir as we made our way through the streets.I sat near the middle of the bus with a notebook resting on my lap.Around me, volunteers chatted excitedly while others checked the medical supplies stacked neatly in the back.Everything had been organized with remarkable precision. No one seemed confused about their responsibilities. Everyone knew exactly what they had come to do."The first outreach is always memorable."I looked up.Evelyn had taken the seat beside me."I've heard that."She smiled."You'll understand why before today is over."I returned the smile."I can't wait."An hour later, the bus turned onto a dusty road leading into a small farming community.Children stopped their games to wave as we arrived. Some of the older residents gathered beneath a large mango tree, watchin

Ophelia's POVThe following morning, I arrived at the Foundation just before eight. The lobby was already alive with activity. Staff hurried from one department to another, while the reception desk fielded a steady stream of visitors. As I walked toward the elevator, I caught myself smiling. A few weeks ago, I'd dreaded waking up each morning. Now, I looked forward to coming here. The Foundation had given me more than a job. It had given me a reason to believe in myself again. When I stepped onto my floor, Clara looked up from her desk."There you are.""Morning."She leaned back in her chair."How are your feet?"I frowned."My feet?""You spent half of yesterday walking around that community."I laughed."They're fine.""Good.""Because Evelyn has been looking for you."Almost on cue, Evelyn appeared from her office."Ophelia.""Good morning.""Morning."She held out a thick blue folder."I need you to take these documents to the executive boardroom."I accepted the folder."Should

Ophelia's POVI barely slept. The name from the access log kept coming back to me. I had never seen it before.Yet somehow, that person had accessed a report connected to my department.By morning, I had almost convinced myself to stop thinking about it.Almost.I arrived at the Foundation earlier than usual and went straight to Evelyn's office. She wasn't there.I checked the time.Eight fifteen. Her office door was unlocked, but her desk was empty.I turned to leave."Looking for someone?"I turned. It was Hannah."Good morning.""Morning.""I was looking for Evelyn.""She had a meeting with finance.""Oh."Hannah studied me."Is everything okay?""Yes."I hesitated."Actually, I wanted to ask her about something from yesterday.""What kind of something?"I wasn't sure how much I should say."The outreach reports."Her expression changed slightly."What about them?""I found an error.""What kind?""A discrepancy in the figures."Hannah nodded slowly."Those reports go through sever

Ophelia's POVI barely slept. The words from the last message kept replaying in my mind. The reports are only the beginning.Beginning of what?I had spent the entire night trying to make sense of it. Every possibility led to another question. The financial discrepancies. The old Foundation records. The person using my credentials. The photographs. The warnings.Somehow, they were connected.I just didn't know how.By morning, I had made one decision. I would stop reacting to the messages and start looking for answers.Carefully.-When I arrived at the Foundation, Evelyn was already waiting for me."You came early.""I couldn't sleep."She gave me a knowing look."Because of the message?"I nodded. She sighed."Security reviewed the footage."My attention sharpened."And?""They found someone outside the Foundation around the time the photograph was taken."My heart skipped."Did they get his face?""Not clearly."I felt my disappointment immediately."But they did find something.”S

Ophelia's POVI barely slept. The anonymous man's final message kept circling through my mind.Ask Erick what he knows. What did Erick know? And why would a stranger want me to ask him?By morning, I had already decided that I wouldn't let the message control me.I would speak to Erick because I wanted answers, not because someone hiding behind an unknown number told me to.I arrived at the café we'd agreed on a little after noon. Erick was already there. He stood when he saw me. For a moment, neither of us spoke. It felt strange seeing him like this. There was a time when being alone with Erick had felt completely natural. Now, even sitting across from him felt unfamiliar."Thank you for coming," he said.I pulled out the chair opposite him."I don't have much time.""I know."He sat down. For several seconds, he simply looked at me.Then his eyes dropped briefly to my stomach. Something complicated passed across his face."You look well.""I'm trying to be."He nodded."I'm glad."I
