ALYONAI was going through the final checklist when Alexander’s voice cut through the quiet. “You’ve done half the work putting this together. It’s only fair if you see how it unfolds.” I looked up from the tablet in my hand, wondering if I’d heard him right. “You want me to attend?”He leaned back in his chair, eyes steady on me. “You’ve been handling everything. Model lineup, schedules, and booth coordination. You’ve kept things running better than half the team. You should be there to see it all come together.” Before I could say anything, Esrael walked in with a few folders in his hand. “That’s a good idea,” he added with an easy smile. “Olivia’s going to be there too. It’ll be good for Alyona to see how things work during an event, the business side, the people.”I glanced between the two of them, unsure what to say, then nodded. “Alright then. I’ll come.”Alexander gave a short nod, as if he’d already decided it long before asking. “Good. See you in the evening at the gala.” I t

ALYONAI picked up the phone and smiled when I saw my mom’s name flashing on the screen. It was a video call.“Mom,” I said softly as the screen lit up, and to my surprise, I saw not just her but Cassie lying in a hospital bed, holding a tiny bundle wrapped in a pink blanket. For a moment, I just stood there, frozen. “Oh my God… is she—”“She’s here,” Mom said, her voice full of joy. “Cassie delivered a baby girl.” My hand flew to my mouth as I felt tears prick at the corners of my eyes. “A baby girl…” I whispered, my heart swelling as I watched Cassie smile tiredly into the camera, cradling the newborn in her arms. The baby’s tiny fingers peeked from the blanket, and something about her softness, her quiet little movements, made my chest tighten with emotion.“She’s beautiful,” I breathed. Cassie chuckled weakly. “She’s a little fighter, just like her aunt Alyona.”I laughed through my tears, shaking my head. “Don’t make me cry even more. What’s her name?”Mom turned the camera towar

ALYONAMy phone buzzed, and I picked it up. The sound came from the other side, Olivia. “Where are you?”“I am…” I glanced around, then realized that even if I tried to explain everything, she wouldn’t understand. I cut it short. “I’m coming, just give me a few minutes.” A few minutes later, I stepped out from behind the curtain, wearing Mario’s gown. The ivory silk hugged my frame perfectly, elegant and understated, yet somehow radiating a quiet glow under the soft lighting. The makeup artist had added just a touch, nothing heavy, making me look naturally refined, like someone who belonged in this world.I hesitated at the edge of the hall, my heart hammering, before taking a careful step forward. As soon as I entered, my eyes found Mario and his showstoppers, surrounded by a small group of people. My stomach tightened; all of a sudden, I felt acutely aware of every eye in the room. I approached Mario, forcing a polite smile. “Thank you… for saving me,” I said politely, “I… I just fe

ALYONAMario’s hand brushed lightly against my lower back, guiding me to turn.“Well, well…” His smooth Italian accent carried easily above the hum of conversation. “Seems I found myself among some familiar faces.”“Monsieur Mario DeLuca,” someone from the group greeted warmly, “The man behind Maison DeLuca. Always a pleasure.” Mario inclined his head with effortless charm, flashing that practiced smile that had become as much a part of his brand as his designs. “The pleasure is mine,” he said, shaking a few hands before his gaze landed squarely on Alexander. For a moment, the air between them changed. Both men looked calm, but there was a tense quality in the way they stood, one that suggested this was more than just a polite meeting. “Hello, Mr. Alexander Hunt,” Mario said with a mannerly smile. “It’s been a while. I hope everything is going well at Enamore.”His voice was friendly, but there was something in his tone that didn’t match his words. Alexander didn’t show any reaction. “

ALYONAThe elevator doors slid shut, sealing us inside in a tense silence. “I’m sorry,” I said quietly, breaking the stillness. Alexander didn’t respond. He stood straight, his gaze fixed on the elevator doors as if I hadn’t spoken at all. The coldness of his silence made my chest tighten. I squeezed my eyes shut for a second, trying to calm the rush of thoughts in my head.He was angry, I could see it in the way his jaw flexed, in how tightly he held his phone. But I couldn’t tell if it was because of me or something else.He pulled out his phone and pressed a contact. “Esrael,” he said, his tone firm. “I’m leaving. Taking Alyona with me.”My stomach twisted at the mention of my name. There was a short pause, a muffled voice from the other end, and then his reply came, “I can’t tolerate a few things,” he said flatly. His eyes shifted to me then, and the look he gave made me drop mine instantly. It wasn’t anger, exactly—it was heavier than that. I felt my pulse jump, guilt flooding in

ALYONAAfter almost two hours on the road, we finally reached the end of a quiet, winding lane. The car slowed, and I looked out the window. It was nearly eight, and the winter sky was dark, the last traces of light gone. The air outside was crisp. Ahead stood a small, cozy villa. Its walls were a little worn, the paint faded, and the wooden shutters slightly crooked. You could tell it had been lived in for a long time, that it had seen decades pass by.I looked at Alexander, unsure of what to do next. He stepped out of the car and came around to my side. Without a word, he opened the door for me and offered his hand. I hesitated for a moment, then let him help me down. My heels clicked softly on the frosty path as I followed him toward the villa. He stopped at the door and typed a code into the keypad. The lock clicked, and he pushed the door open. I stepped inside, blinking as the warm air brushed against my chilled skin. Almost immediately, he reached over and switched on the light

ALEXANDERIt was commendable—the way she handled everything. She deserved more than what I had given her. When I saw her in that dress tonight, I didn’t expect it to affect me this way. I’d seen her in many moods—angry, nervous, lost in thought, but tonight… she looked different. There was something about her that caught me off guard, something I couldn’t ignore, no matter how hard I tried.Every time I tried to distance myself from her, something about her pulled me back in. When that man kissed her hand, a sharp pain cut through me. I didn’t know why. Maybe it was because of what she’d been through before—or maybe it was something else entirely. Either way, I couldn’t stand it. Watching her with Mario, then that dance… it all built up inside me until I lost control. I didn’t plan to bring her here. I just wanted to get away from the crowd, from the noise, from everything. But somewhere deep down, I think I wanted to protect her.And now… here she is. Sitting in front of me, her eyes

ALEXANDERI looked down at her hand on mine. It trembled just a little, but she held on firmly enough to make me freeze. Something in her tone, in the way her eyes searched mine, told me it wasn’t about the wine. Maybe she didn’t want the moment to end. Maybe neither did I.So instead of taking the glasses away, I poured a little more and sat back beside her. I’d lost control, my denial, my distance; it all faded. I just wanted to stay with her a little longer. She smiled, her lashes heavy. “Can I tell you something?”I nodded. “You told me you don’t believe in love,” she said, and my heart started beating faster than I expected. “Would you like to know what I think?”“Tell me,” I said, trying to sound calm.“I used to think love had to be perfect,” she began. “Like in those stories where people fall in love and everything just fits. But life doesn’t work that way, does it?”“No,” I said softly. “It doesn’t.” She smiled again, but this time it was sad. “I think love is about honesty.

ALYONAI started my day as usual. I reached the office, made my coffee, and walked straight into Alexander’s office. But the moment I stepped inside, I felt something was off. Esrael was standing near the screen while Alexander sat in his chair, his posture stiff and alert. The television blared in the background, flashing red banners of breaking news.“Enamore is accused of stealing Mario’s designs.”My heart skipped a beat. I moved closer, trying to understand what I was seeing. The news anchor’s voice filled the room, explaining how Mario had publicly claimed that Enamore copied his work. Sketches, emails, and design references were being shown as “evidence.” Then Mario himself appeared on the screen, giving an interview, dropping Alexander’s name like it was nothing, and tearing down everything Enamore had built.I turned to look at Alexander. His jaw tightened, and before I could say anything, he grabbed the remote and threw it across the room. It hit the wall with a sharp sound.

ALYONAThe rest of the day passed in a blur. Meetings were canceled, people whispered in corners, and the office carried a tense silence that refused to lift. No one had any answers. No one even knew what to believe. But through it all, my thoughts kept circling back to Alexander. I could still see the look on his face — the frustration, the disbelief, the hurt hidden behind his anger. He had worked so hard for Enamore, built it piece by piece, and now everything was falling apart in front of him.I wanted to take that pain away, to do something, anything to make it right. Maybe he would never know how much I cared, or how much his silence hurt me too, but right now, none of that mattered. I just wanted to help him.By the time I reached Mario’s office, the sun had started to set. I held the dress carefully in my hands — the one he had given me before and walked in. The receptionist looked up the moment I walked in. “Good evening, ma’am. Do you have an appointment?”I shook my head po
