Whatever softness grief had left in him vanished, replaced by something sharper, colder, more dangerous than I had ever seen in him before. "Tell me everything," he said, and his voice left no room for hesitation. Damien didn't waste time easing into it. Adrian had been found dead in what looked, on the surface, like a car accident. But the details didn't sit right. The brakes had been tampered with, not worn down by time or neglect but deliberately compromised. The scene was too clean, too convenient, the kind of clean that only comes from someone trying very hard to make tragedy look like fate. The police were calling it an accident. Damien didn't believe that for a second, and neither did Leo. He listened without interrupting, his jaw tightening with every new detail, and I watched the grief in his eyes give way to something harder.
