AVA The first time I saw Caden Duke in person, I forgot how to breathe.Which was embarrassing considering half the female population of Norwell University saw him almost every day without nearly passing out.The arena exploded into cheers as the final buzzer rang. Norwell Wolves: 4. Westbridge Titans: 1.I rose to my feet with everyone else, my banner in my hands as I cheered the loudest. The hockey team celebrated on the ice, bright lights flashing across the rink, music blasting through the speakers, and students screaming Caden’s name loud enough to shake the building. Not mine, obviously.Even whilst I sat in the front row at every game, I was just another invisible scholarship student no one gave a shit about. But him?He was impossible to ignore.Caden skated across the ice with effortless confidence, his dark hair damp, and broad shoulders moving like he owned the entire arena. Maybe he did. At Norwell, Caden Duke wasn’t just the hockey star.He was practically a god.My bes

AVAThe sunlight flickering from the glass windows made me stir. I groaned loudly, blindly reaching for my phone on the bedstand, and the second my screen lit up.Oh Shit!9:30am.I jolted off my bed immediately, rushing straight to the bathroom. “Fuck you, Caden Duke,” I muttered underneath my breath as I began to shower. This was totally his fault. After that embarrassing moment in the kitchen, I couldn’t sleep. Every time I closed my eyes, I heard his stupid voice all over again. “Erase whatever sick crush you have on me. It’s embarrassing.”The worst part was my brain kept creating better comebacks I should have used. By 3am in the morning, I was still staring at my ceiling, rehearsing an imaginary argument where I actually humbled him instead of standing there like an idiot. The next few minutes passed in a blur with me preparing hurriedly, and in no time, I was all set.I had less than twenty minutes until the test. 'Just a quick coffee to keep me awake,’ I muttered to myse

AVAI saw how visibly angry he was, and I loved it. This was what he got for stepping on my toes. He refused to give up, though. “You forgot the rule so quickly. Are you so narrow-minded, or are you still looking for attention that much?” He hit me with the same words he did every time. This time, my heart had gotten accustomed to it. I scoffed, glaring back at him. I wasn't going to let him talk to me the way he pleased.“Enough. I don't give a damn about your rules!” I yelled, crossing my hands over my chest with my lips twisted to the side. I hated him so much, and he kept shoving himself in my face. “Well, you're not obeying rule one, and you better start giving a damn about it because my house, my rules.” I inched closer to him. “Well, your rules stink, and I've been trying my best to keep up with them since the past week!” I paused, and when he didn't say a word, I decided to continue. “You should try lowering your music; I'm trying to study.” I grabbed the bottle of wate

AVA“You're one lucky bitch,” Mira said beside me. “You will finally get access to him.”I exhaled sharply.“I'm sure he'd invite you to his penthouse to discuss the project, I heard it's the biggest around the campus.”Yeah, I live there. And trust me, I wanted to tell her, but I feared what Mira would do if she found out.“You might get to meet his hockey friends… I'm so jealous of you right now,” she whispered. “Maybe after the project discussion, he would invite you for a drink, then you guys can watch a movie, and who knows…you might finally get a kiss.”“Mira!” I cut in. “Concentrate.”She was quiet, but just for a minute. “Why the sudden resentment though? First you missed the game, then you're no longer a fan, now it seems like you don't want to hear anything about him.”I remained silent, returning my attention to the lecturer. But she didn't relent. “It's been almost two years of wanting to be noticed by him, and now you get that chance you suddenly hate him?”“People grow,

Ava’s POVI freshened up and headed straight for the sitting room, but Caden wasn't there. Just when I thought he was really invested in this project. I turned, about to head back upstairs when my gaze caught him through the glass. He has got to be kidding me. I made my way outside immediately. “The pool, really?” I asked as soon as I reached.Caden had a nonchalant look on his face as he continued swimming. “It’s for inspiration.”“So we are supposed to discuss our project while you swim?!” He swam to the edge, his eyes meeting mine. “Are you sure you want me to come out like this?”I scrunched my face, confused. “Like what?”He emerged from the water, and my eyes—it just couldn't behave for one second. Caden was shirtless, his arms toned, his body lean and muscular, his hair messy, with water dripping down his skin, giving him a ridiculously sexy look. I took in a deep breath, forcefully tearing my gaze away from him, before I embarrassed myself any further. I cleared my th
