All Chapters of Not His Destiny : Chapter 41 - Chapter 50

Dante convinced me there was no need to see Elvira and Lia's principal, and though I'm still bitter about what happened and want to see them returned to school, he promised me they'll attend a better school once we move to the Skymore pack land. Which I explained to Elvira and Lia.While they both looked at me skeptically, they didn't fight me on it. Elvira helped Mom pack her things and soon it's time to move out of the Puremoon pack lands. We've lived here for four years and for the Red Fang pack, it has been more than ten. Leaving, even to a better place, still feels strange and while the hostility toward me and my family reduced a bit once Dante showed them the new land, it isn't completely gone. I still catch snide looks and muttered comments when I pass by, even from Puremoon pack members who used to at least be civil. They all seem to blame me for what happened between Dante and Alpha Bastian. We'll still be thirty minutes away from the pack land, an hour away from the wild. I

Dante and I stand in the middle of the empty living room, listening to Andre talk, his voice echoing off the bare walls. "You don't spend a single penny on anything in this house," Dante says with such a dark edge in his tone, I glance at him. His expression burns furious. "How the fuck did you amass a debt. What did you do with the money."Andre doesn't look even the least bit sorry for coming to his son with this much debt. He just told us he owes alpha Bastian a lot of money and has a two-day deadline to pay it now or face the consequences."You didn't know about it, Dante, but I was very sick," Celeste mutters, her brows quirking up in a show of remorse. "Andre had to–""Don't butt into this, Mom. Your husband has a mouth. Let him speak for himself," he says, arms crossed. "Tell me. What did you do with the money.""Started a business," he gruffs out. Andre is even more quiet and gruff than Dante, looking reluctant to share his thoughts let alone his problems with anyone. "I kno

Dante just keeps staring at me for several seconds. "Fine," he says, throwing his hand carelessly. "Don't give it to me if it's going to start making you talk crazy again."My mouth opens on reflex, but I pull back the words. Not everything needs to become a quarrel. I watch Dante stalk back into our room like he's a stranger. How could he ask me for my own money? That's so unlike him. Dante has never done that. When I went behind his back to do something for the family and he found out, he was furious with me. I did it anyway because I knew it was his pride talking. He really needed the help, especially when his mother and father contributed nothing to the household.Still, I hold on to the belief that Dante isn't telling me something. I just don't want to blurt out any suspicion like I did the last time and cause a bigger problem. When I look up, Lia and Elvira are at the door, watching me. It makes my heart wilt in my chest. I didn't want them to see me and Dante like that, quarre

Dante releases me when he realizes I won't move from there and sighs deeply. "Why do you always push me this far, Cici? What has happened to your ability to trust me?"My eyes immediately flood with tears, tears I wipe with annoyance. Why am I fucking crying? "Every time I trust you, you disappoint me.""I haven't even done anything.""You kissed her, you hugged her, you haven't done anything?" I laugh in mockery. "What, am I supposed to wait till your dick is inside her before I understand?"Dante paces away from me like he wants to walk away, wants to leave me to stew in my feelings, but he stops, turns around, and yells, "You have no idea what the pull is like!" The veins around his neck stand out from the strength of it. "It is so fucking bad, I think about her like I'm cursed with it. I want her, I need her. Sometimes I can't sleep because she is not with me. “His breath quickens as the words rush out of him, saying them like he is dragging them out from the depths of his being

The move day comes, and the road fills with cars streaming toward the new land. Alpha Bastian, Padre, and other wolves of the Puremoon pack show up to oversee everything, watching us closely like they think we might run off with something if they don’t. I can’t help but wonder what Alpha Bastian plans to do with the houses and farms left behind. Most of it was bought by the Puremoon pack members at absurdly cheap prices since it was their land. They could have just kicked us out, but they didn’t want any bad blood with the Red Fang pack, I guess. It’s disconcerting, watching them linger at the edge of the forest as we drive out of the land that will always feel like home to me. It’s the first place we settled after wandering the wild for years, the first real home after being homeless. My eyes start to burn as I drive, the trees blurring into dark green streaks.Dante went with his bike. His parents are riding with Gabriella’s family, because God forbid they ride with mine, so it’s
