All Chapters of High Alphas: Chapter 21 - Chapter 30

"Michael Jackson is a big bully," Joe Hale says. He squeezes his small screen tight. He sits on his wooden stool and stares at the paper note his brother’s mate, Hazel Hale, sent over this morning. The big bold letters on the top say: FUTURE ALPHA KING MICHAEL JACKSON SPOTTED RIDING NEW UNRELEASED HALE WOLF RIDERS GUILD MACHINE. Joe clicks the little video button. Michael’s very handsome alpha face fills the screen."You never ride a Hale Wolf Riders Guild machine before, Lord Jackson," the scribe from the Moonfang Chronicle says on the video. She looks very shaky and smiles too much at him.Michael smirks. He turns around and rubs the smooth hood of the fast machine with one big finger. He looks back at the scribe with a funny, teasing look in his dark eyes. He always uses that look just for Joe."I have no choice," Michael says on the screen. He lets out a small, deep chuckle. "My sweet little pup gets his sharp claws into all my other wagons last night. I have to buy a ride I think

JOE"Kitten," Michael murmurs, fighting back the smile tugging at his lips as he watches Joe fume from behind the silver bars. "You really do think you have nine lives, don't you?"Joe glares at him, arms crossed tight over his chest, the motion making his thin cotton shirt stretch across his shoulders. "I see you came to mock me."Michael smirks, unable to help himself. "You know this is my private quarters you tried to sneak into, right? Who else would they call?""They should have called Rebbie, like I asked.""Still haven't learned your lesson from last time, have you?" Michael steps closer to the cell, watching Joe's jaw tighten. "The last time you got caught breaking into my room. Need a reminder, sweetheart?"Joe's breath catches, his eyes dropping to the floor. That night haunts him still, getting caught with Janet Rose, his brother's aide, both of them trying to find evidence against the Silverclaw pack. Tito had bailed out Janet Rose, but left his little brother to face Mich

Joe Hale slams his magic communication mirror face down on his wooden desk. He rejects Michael Jackson’s secret mind-call for the seventeenth time today. He tries very hard to look at his territory maps, but his brain keeps going back to last night. He remembers standing in the shadow of the alpha den. He watched Michael rush over to Rebbie Jackson, tearing off his own fine tunic to wipe the messy pasta off her bare feet. Michael looked so scared and worried for her. Joe felt like a huge, silly pup standing there, so he just walked out into the dark night without making a sound. The mirror glows and hums again. Joe flips the power switch completely off. He lets out a big, sad sigh and buries his face in his hands. His heart feels very heavy and sore. When Rebbie Hale told him she did not think Michael was mating that hidden princess, Joe secretly hoped his sister-in-law was right. But he should have known better. Joe’s stomach does a flip when he remembers the sharp look in Rebbie Jac

Joe Hale holds the leather map scroll tight in his fingers. He takes a big breath before he gets down from his giant wolf-wagon. He makes his choice today. He lets himself lose many great territory battles in the last two winters all because he wants to run away from Michael Jackson. He is done running now."Joe," Brandon Jackson says, walking into the grand stone lodge where the land auction is happening. He gives the omega a very big, happy smile. "My wolf did not think you would show up today."Joe raises an eyebrow and shakes his head. "I gave you my pack promise, didn't I?"Brandon nods his head, his alpha eyes looking closely at Joe's face. "I guess you did."Did Brandon truly think Joe would stay home in his nest after they spent three suns writing this big land proposal together? Brandon leads him down the stone hallway toward the big Alpha Council room. Joe cannot stop his brain from thinking too much. What kind of signal is he sending to the other wolf packs by walking away

Michael"You are late," Jackie says. He sets up the small poker table he made for the pack nights."That is strange," Jermaine says. "You are always on time."Randy looks at Michael and gives a loud sigh. "Do you want some moon-whiskey?"Michael nods his head. Marlon pulls out a chair for him."What did our brother Joe do this time?" Marlon asks with a big smile. "I thought you two stopped your little war. But your eyes look like he did something crazy again.""I do not think Joe did anything," Jackie says. He pushes his moon-phone right into Marlon's face. "He is too busy walking all over the territory with Brandon Jackson. I have to say, they look great together.""Brandon Jackson," Michael says. He drinks the moon-whiskey fast. Joe is an Omega, and he avoids Michael all the time. Joe runs away after every pack meeting. Now Joe sits next to Brandon and laughs. It makes Michael feel so mad inside."I think the Elder Luna Queen will let it happen," Randy says. "If Joe goes to her and
