The Last Three Months of My Life のすべてのチャプター: チャプター 1 - チャプター 10

Honestly, I never really cared if I got sick. We're born, then we wait around to die. Dying early just meant leaving this world sooner.Maybe the universe heard me.Because I really got diagnosed.Late-stage cancer.Three months left. Max.Three months.Johan couldn't even finish one project that fast. But that was all I had left.***I walked out of the hospital building with the diagnosis in my hand.Like any other day, I walked at my usual pace. When I passed a trash can, I tossed the report in.The second I stepped outside the gate, my phone rang.Johan.He had a private thing today, the kind where a secretary didn't belong. If he was calling now, there was only one reason.Sure enough, the second I picked up, he proved me right.I went to the club he texted me.The second I opened the door, two women were draped all over Johan, totally into him.I stopped in the doorway, frowning. All I wanted was to turn around and leave. Then Johan noticed me.He shoved them

The butler stared at me."Ms. Yelton, are you really leaving?""Yeah. I'm not coming back."Pain ripped through me, but I smiled anyway, like a flower in full bloom.Even if I was about to wilt, I'd still lived my life with everything I had.The butler stayed quiet. Then a cold, grim voice cut in behind me, sharp as winter air."Are you sure?"I froze.Wasn't he supposed to be at work?I turned around.Johan stood in the doorway, one hand in his pocket, brows pulled tight. His tightly pressed lips said it all.He was pissed.Lily clung to his arm beside him, watching me like I was something new."Yes. I already resigned."I gave him a polite smile. Professional to the end."Mr. Lundberg, thank you for everything. I hope you get the success, happiness, and family you've always wanted."What we had was always simple: money for sex.Without his money, my parents wouldn't have gotten the treatment they needed. So yeah.I meant it. I hoped things worked out for him.His

Johan shot me one last dark look, then rushed Lily to the payment desk so she could see the doctor first.I gave a little laugh at myself.Johan.Such a personal way to say his name. After seven years with him, I'd never gotten to call him that. But Lily said it like she'd always had the right.I wondered if seeing me made her uncomfortable.Me? I avoided looking at her whenever I could.Shawn still dragged me to the ER.I couldn't say no, so I showed him the two little bottles of pain meds the doctor gave me.He looked them up online. Then went quiet. After a while, Shawn looked at me with this sadness I didn't get."Ms. Yelton... did you tell him?""No."I shook my head.A light drizzle started falling from the gray sky. I looked up and smiled."And you can't tell him either."I had nothing left to lose.Leaving quietly sounded fine. The sadness in Shawn's eyes got worse. That tiny shine in them was the only bright thing under that ugly sky.I smiled at him.Fo

Maybe my defiant laugh pissed him off.His eyes narrowed. "Don't even think about Shawn. If he touches you, I'll kill him.""There is seriously something wrong with you."I leaned against the headboard, my whole body wrecked, and forced a mocking smile through the pain."You're the one who said you were sick of me. You're also the one who stormed in here in the middle of the night and forced yourself on me. If you can't let me go, just say that. Why bother with the whole devoted-lover act?"Listen to him. Saying he'd kill Shawn for me.Since when did I matter that much?Johan narrowed his eyes. Classic. Then he tossed out a cold reply."I don't like women getting in my business.""What does that have to do with me?" I scoffed, giving him a cold look. "I'm not your woman. Got it?"I was just his secretary. His secret lover. And I'd already quit. His face darkened even more.Good for him.I called Blackie back after Johan chased it out.Blackie hopped into my arms, its sh

Johan's face darkened further. Without a word, he grabbed my hand and tried to drag me away.Shawn blocked our path."Yara, who are you going with?""You."I tried to pull free of Johan's grip.Shawn and I weren't close, but he was still more trustworthy than Johan right now. Then Johan wrapped me in his arms, picked me up, and ran."You think I'm listening to either of you?""Yara!"Shawn shouted after us and took off after us, but Johan only ran faster. The cold wind made my head ache, so I just closed my eyes.Johan carried me into the car without another word and sped off, leaving Shawn far behind.I stared at the gray sky and sighed."Johan, why are you doing this?"Once it was over, it was over.We hadn't even been in a real relationship. So why was he suddenly all up in my life?As he drove, the corner of his mouth lifted."I feel sorry for you."I actually laughed."I've never seen you as the compassionate type."I held Blackie close, pulling comfort from th
