Author's POV Cassandra stands by the window watching the happy couple reconcile with joy. Her face twists with hate, heart burning with jealousy. Elaria “You killed it!” I look to my side to see a teen boy, face still wet with sweat, peering at me from behind a tree and shake my head no. “I merely wounded it.” One of the elders I recognize from another pack approaches me, clutching his bleeding wrist. “That was no mere thing you just did, Luna Elaria. That wolf was no normal one.” Another woman steps out too, holding a child in each hand. “Dear Goddess, when I saw its soulless, devilish eyes, I thought we were all going to die.” She crumples to the floor, weeping what I hope are tears of relief. Elaria I wake with a throbbing pain in my arm but feel better overall as my muscles feel rested. I can hear the sounds of a busy camp outside and that reassures me that nothing out of the ordinary happened again in the dark of night. I don’t see Evander in the tent nor do I see Alaric.
