JANELLE'S POV I had been at the hospital since morning, and somehow, despite everything the doctors had told me, I still felt as though I was waiting for something to go wrong. Dad's surgery had not started yet. The medical team was still preparing him, running additional tests and making sure his body was stable enough for the transplant. Every few hours, another doctor came in with an update, and every time the doors to his room opened, my heart jumped. I tried to work. My laptop was open on the small table beside my chair, and Sterling House documents covered most of the screen. I had a contract review waiting for my approval, two marketing proposals that needed decisions, and several financial reports Eddie had sent over.
