Finn does not touch the phone until they reach the apartment.Owen carries it the whole way home, his fingers wrapped tightly around the black device as if it might vanish if he loosens his grip. Finn walks beside him in silence, checking every reflection, every parked car, every doorway where a man could stand and pretend not to watch. Twice, he thinks about taking the phone and throwing it into a drain.He does not.That frightens him almost as much as the phone itself.At the apartment, Finn locks the door, slides the chain into place, checks the window, and then checks the hallway through the peephole.
