All Chapters of Queen of the Eternal Nile: Chapter 51 - Chapter 60

Three days had passed since Meera's memorial ceremony.Life inside the Temple of Ra had gradually settled into a new rhythm. The halls were no longer filled with mournful silence, and the servants had returned to their daily duties. Even so, the absence of the gentle queen could still be felt everywhere I went.Since then, I have spent nearly every waking hour inside the Temple of Ra.Every morning, High Priest Anen patiently taught me Ancient Egyptian. My tongue still stumbled over certain words, but at least I could finally hold simple conversations without relying entirely on gestures. In return, I helped organize scrolls, assisted the temple healers, and shared whatever medical knowledge I could without revealing too much about where I came from.Today, I had finished reading the last two papyrus scrolls high priest Anen had lent me. If I was going to be trapped in ancient Egypt, then I had only one choice—I needed to learn their language first.Holding them carefully against my c

The discussion continued long into the evening.By now, the High Priest's desk had completely disappeared beneath stacks of papyrus scrolls. Every time I thought we'd reached the end of their questions, someone unrolled another scroll or asked about something new.I did my best to answer all of them. Sometimes I actually knew the answer and sometimes I spent several awkward seconds trying to remember the Ancient Egyptian word while other times... drawing little pictures on papyrus was simply easier. To my surprise, it worked. Between my clumsy explanations, Anen's patient translations, and everyone's willingness to listen, speaking their language became a little less terrifying.I still made mistakes, a lot of mistakes but at least they understood me.Ramose unrolled a large map across the table."If this black oil truly exists beneath our lands..." he said, pointing toward several locations in the western provinces, "...then these are the places where villagers have reported poisoned

Only then did I notice how strangely quiet the healing quarters had become. The room that had been bustling with hurried footsteps and anxious voices only moments ago had fallen completely silent. One by one, every healer, apprentice, and patient seemed to be looking toward the entrance.Confused, I slowly turned around and my heart nearly stopped immediately when I saw someone standing beneath the stone archway was none other than the Pharaoh Kharef.Beside him stood General Ramose, General Menes, and General Aziel and none of them spoke but they all simply watched me.How long had they been standing there?Heat immediately rushed to my cheeks.

I groaned the moment I tried to lift my arm."Ow..."Every muscle in my body protested. Even for just sitting up felt like an impossible task.Who would've thought riding a horse could leave me feeling like I'd been trampled by an entire cavalry?"My legs... my back... my shoulders..." I rubbed my aching neck with a wince. "I don't think there's a single part of me that doesn't hurt."Despite the pain, I couldn't help laughing at myself. Yesterday was amazing. Ramose and Menes had spent nearly the entire morning teaching me how to ride. Well... attempting to teach me.I'd lost count of how many times I'd nearly slipped out of the saddle.

The next morning...Knock.Knock."Lady Maritza?"A gentle voice drifted through my sleep. It sounded distant, as though it were coming from underwater.Knock."Lady Maritza?"I frowned, forcing my heavy eyelids open."...Mmm..."The ceiling above me slowly came into focus.High Priest Anen stood beside the doorway, his kind face lined with concern."My apologies," I murmured, pushing myself upright. "I... overslept."That had never happened before.Ever since arriving in Ancient Egypt, I'd always awakened before sunrise. Whether to gather herbs, prepare medicine, or simply enjoy the quiet morning air, I was always the first one awake. Not today.High Priest Anen offered me a gentle smile."It happens.""I suppose..." I let out a small laugh.Still feeling embarrassed, I swung my legs over the side of the bed.The moment my feet touched the floor, the room suddenly spun and everything tilted. My vision blurred and I instinctively grabbed the edge of the bed before I collapsed."Lady M
