Semua Bab Lucifer's angel : Bab 11 - Bab 20

Silence settled between them. Iris stared at him, her chest rising and falling. "...Fine." She bit out. "I'll repay the debt." She took a step toward him, her blue eyes burning with defiance."But don't mistake this for loyalty." "I'm doing this for my family. The day I no longer need you..." She held his gaze. "...is the day I walk away." Cassian looked at her for a long moment. His eyes flickered,"We'll see." He turned on his heel and walked away. Iris glared at his retreating figure before following him, her fists clenched at her sides. **** Iris hissed in pain as her finger tips traced the skin on her shoulder where she was zapped. A few weeks ago she never would have imagined herself in this situation. Even if a fortune teller had told her this she would denounce it as a prank. She stared down at her bare feet as she tread lightly through the hallway, security flanking either side of her. "Miss Bella requires your presence." Iris' head snapped up. Surprise flashed ac

A dull throb in her head was the first thing Iris woke up to. She hissed in pain and groaned, her eyes blinking repeatedly as they adjusted to the morning light. "Uggh..." A small groan escaped her lips as she struggled to sit up. Her head spun, and her breathing came out in shallow pants. After a few minutes, she managed to calm herself. She reached for the glass of water on the bedside table and gulped it down greedily. Then, the memories came flooding back. ‘Marble Man.’ That particular nickname echoed in her mind. "…You smell nice." The image of herself sniffing Cassian's jacket flashed before her eyes. She whimpered in embarrassment. What the hell was I thinking? She tugged at her hair, her mind becoming a complete mess. What will he think of me now? "Seriously, Iris?" she groaned, burying her face in her palms "Marble Man?" She could die from embarrassment. Slowly, Bella's smiling face drifted into her thoughts. Iris stared blankly ahead as the images

She found herself in the training room an hour later. She hadn't planned to come; her feet had simply carried her along a path that had become second nature. Bella's words kept ringing in her head. what exactly did she mean? Sunlight poured through the high windows and pooled across the gray mats. Rows of weapons leaned against the walls, polished until they caught the light. Everything was exactly where it belonged. Including her. She walked to the center of the mat and stood very still, letting her eyes travel the room. This was where it had started — the first day Cassian had dragged her here. She remembered the bruises, the pain, the way she'd hated him. The memory of that first command — Again — echoed in her head and almost made her smile. Back then she’d thought he was trying to break her. Now she wasn’t so sure. A heavy punch bag swung gently from the ceiling. Without thinking, she wrapped the straps around her hands and began. One punch. Another. The bag swung back an

Cassian's grip never loosened around her wrist. He pulled her through the smoke-filled hallway. His strides were long — she stumbled twice just trying to keep up. The floor was slick with something she didn't want to identify.Guards rushed past them so fast that their faces blurred. "Medic!""Secure the west corridor!""We've lost contact with Team Three!"Smoke curled into her nose. She tasted ash at the back of her throat. Her eyes watered and her lungs burned with every breath. She coughed. A wet, hacking sound.Despite her vigorously coughing by his side Cassian didn't stop.‘Where are we going?’‘What is happening?’He didn't answer the questions she couldn't ask out loud.He just shoved open a pair of heavy steel doors. That's when she realised they had made it to another wing of the mansion. The room swallowed them whole.Iris blinked, her vision adjusting.Screens, dozens of them, covering an entire wall from floor to ceiling. Blue light flickering. Images jumping from camer

The room had emptied.Only two guards remained near the door while the technicians continued working at the computers. But the chaos from earlier had faded into something worse.Silence.Iris sat on the edge of a chair, staring at the floor.Someone was looking for me.The words she'd spoken still echoed in her head. She didn't know why she'd said them. She didn't know where the thought had come from. It had simply appeared. Like a memory she'd forgotten she had.Her fingers slowly tightened around the fabric of her trousers. She hated that feeling. Not knowing. Not understanding. For five years, she'd trained herself to remember everything. Every face. Every exit. Every weapon. Every lesson Cassian had forced into her head. Nothing was supposed to slip past her.Yet somehow... a symbol had. A voice had. And now a silhouette."You're thinking too loudly."Iris looked up.Cassian stood near the window. His jacket was gone, leaving him in the same dark shirt he'd worn during the attack.
