All Chapters of The Tattooed Luna: Chapter 11 - Chapter 20

Sera didn't go back to sleep after the rogues. She went back to her room, changed out of the grass-stained clothes, sat on the edge of the bed and stared at the wall. Dessa's face kept surfacing in the vision — that round, open face, those dark eyes, the specific expression of someone hearing something painful and not looking away from it.She needed to be wrong about this. She had been wrong about things before. Visions were fragmented — she knew that, she'd learned that. Context missing. Details misread. It was possible she'd seen something that looked like Dessa and wasn't.She pressed her palms flat on her thighs and told herself to be careful. To not move on an image until she had something more solid than a flash of someone's face in a rogue wolf's memory. She was still telling herself this at one in the morning when she gave up on the bed and went to walk the corridor. She noticed the light by accident. The east corridor on the second floor ran past a series of closed doors — s

Sera found him by accident. She hadn't been looking for Caelum — she'd been looking for the small sitting room off the main corridor, the one with the window seat where she sometimes went when the estate felt too loud in its quietness. She took a wrong turn at the third corridor junction, pushed open a door she thought was the right one, and walked into the great hall instead. He was standing in front of Lyra's portrait. His back was to the door. He had his hands at his sides and his head slightly raised, looking at the painting the way people look at things that cost them — directly, without flinching, with the specific quality of someone who has decided that looking away is no longer available to them.Sera stood in the doorway. She should leave. She knew that immediately — this was a private moment and she was standing in it uninvited and the correct thing to do was step back and pull the door closed and find the right room. She stayed. She didn't know why. Maybe because she'd been

Sera spent the rest of the morning alone. She went back to her room after the armory. She sat at the desk and looked at the wall and turned the vision over and over the way you turn something sharp — carefully, aware that the edges can cut you no matter which way you hold it.Her mother's face.Gold marks.Caelum.She needed to talk to him. She knew that. The knowing sat in her chest like a stone, heavy and specific, and every hour she didn't move on it the stone got heavier. She waited until afternoon. Not because she needed the time to calm down — she wasn't sure calm was available to her right now — but because she needed to be deliberate. She needed to walk into that conversation knowing exactly what she was asking and why, and not let the grief drive the wheel. She found him in the east study. The door was open. He was at the desk with papers, reading, his sleeves rolled to the elbow, his pen making small marks in the margins. He looked up when she appeared in the doorway and som

The full moon came three days after Riven's warning.Sera knew it was coming — she'd felt it building for forty-eight hours the way she felt most things before they arrived, through the marks. A low-grade warmth that had nothing to do with temperature. A restlessness in her skin that made sitting still feel like something she had to actively choose rather than something that just happened. She didn't plan to join the run.Nobody told her she was expected to. The full moon run was a pack event — wolves shifting, moving together through the forest territory, the monthly rhythm of a community that shared a nature she was still figuring out if she fully shared. She'd been at Ashveil for almost a month and she still hadn't shifted. She didn't know if she could. The wolf was there — she could feel it the same way she could feel the marks, something present and animal and distinctly not human — but she'd never let it out and she wasn't sure tonight was the night. She was standing at the wind

He came at nine.Sera heard the knock and knew it was him before she opened the door. She couldn't have explained how — something in the quality of the knock, maybe, the specific rhythm of someone who never did anything without intention. Or maybe the mark at her collarbone, which had gone warm about thirty seconds before the sound came. She opened the door.Caelum was standing in the corridor in a plain dark shirt, no jacket, looking like a man who had walked here directly from a decision rather than from somewhere physical. His hands were at his sides. His expression was the one she was starting to think of as his honest face — not warm, not cold, just present."I'm not going to ask if you have a minute," he said. "You can tell me to leave.""What do you want," she said."To tell you something," he said. "And to ask you something. In that order."She looked at him.She stepped back and opened the door wider. He stepped inside. She didn't offer him the chair. He didn't look for it. T
