Lahat ng Kabanata ng Married At My Ex Husband's Burial: Kabanata 1 - Kabanata 10

CHAPTER TWOI woke up to the feeling of rough hands opening my legs and carelessly ripping my shorts away from my legs before forcefully throwing my legs apart. I tried not to move or make sounds...because Daniel did not like it when I interrupted him while he used my body.He forced himself into me, not caring to lubricate my entrance in anyway...It had become part of my morning routine... Like a chore I have to fulfill. When he was done, he grunted, sinking his teeth into my left shoulder and pinning me there. He just rolled off of my body while I scurried to prepare for his party. As I looked at my reflection in the morrow, I looked tired, bruised, stretched thin by fear and just ready to give up, but makeup could do miracles when my survival depended on it.I dabbed foundation over the fading purple bruise on my cheek, patting the sponge gently. My husband watched from the doorway with a cold impatience, tapping his watch.“Hurry up,” he snapped. “I’m not walking in late because

CHAPTER FOURMy eyes flew open with a violent gasp.I sat straight up, clutching my throat, my lungs screaming for air. The phantom feeling of Daniel’s fingers crushing my windpipe was so real I could still taste the metallic tang of blood in my mouth. I was trembling, waiting for the dark bathroom walls, the cold tiles, and his twisted face to appear. But they didn't.The air around me was warm, smelling faintly of lavender and vanilla. I blinked, wiping away the tears blurring my vision, and looked down. I wasn't on the bathroom floor. I was sitting in an oddly familiar bed with crisp white sheets and a plush, pink velvet headboard.I looked around the room, my heart hammering against my ribs. This wasn't Daniel's house.I looked to my left. On the white nightstand sat my old polaroid camera, right next to a half-empty bag of strawberry candies. Across the room, a massive gray beanbag chair sat in the corner, and a silver high school graduation trophy gleamed on the shelf above it.

I let my hand drop to my side, the phone slipping from my fingers and falling onto the plush carpet. This was harder than I thought it would be... How could I get revenge when his voice still had this effect on me? I'm too weak to stand up to him... Too weak..."I can't do this... I can't do this...I can't...I can't"Suddenly, the room began to spin. The walls of the fitting room started to shrink, pressing in on me from all sides. The heavy white satin of the dress became tighter and tighter, squeezing my chest until my lungs were begging for air...I closed my eyes, but the darkness only made it worse.“You were always so naive, Celene.”Daniel’s voice echoed in my head, loud and clear, as if he were standing right behind me. I could feel the cold tiles of the bathroom floor pressing against my cheek. I could feel the brutal, crushing weight of his knees pinning my arms down. My hands flew to my throat as the memory of his thumbs digging into my windpipe flashed in my mind.“Did yo

The rest of the day was a slow, agonizing mind-fuck.I locked myself in my bedroom, pacing the floor until the soles of my feet were sore. Every time I closed my eyes, my brain fractured and I saw Daniel’s hands around my neck. I saw the empty, cold look in his eyes. And then, I saw Cole Ryder.I knew his face from my memories...I knew him from the news...but he did not know me... Not yet anyways... I only met him through Daniel when we got married. He was a shadow over the city, a man who dealt in blood and leverage. But how the hell did a girl like me reach a man like him?If I walked up to his estate, his guards would probably throw me into a ditch, not caring who my father is. If I called his office, his secretary who would most probably laugh in my face."Fucking think, Celene," I muttered, dragging my hands through my hair. I had to make him see me, but my mind was spinning in useless, fucking frustrating circles.I had six days... Six fucking days!!!By late evening, the press

I had to wait two days... Two full fucking days before I could set my plan in motion...When the day came and I finally pulled the black silk gown over my hips, it fit like a second skin. The slit on the left side rode dangerously high, showing off a serious amount of leg with every step I took."Oh fuck yes..." I stood in front of the full-length mirror and stared at my reflection.Damn.In my past life, I would have never worn this. I would have worn some pastel, princess-cut gown that Daniel approved of, blending into the background like a fragile ornament. But the woman staring back at me now looked sharp. Dangerous.I slipped a small, sleek clutch over my wrist. Inside, I didn't just have lipstick and my ID. I had a folded piece of heavy paper with a single name written on it. The name of the traitor who was going to try and poison Cole Ryder tonight. "Celene?" Maya’s voice called out from the bedroom, followed by a soft knock on the door. "The car is downstairs. Are you..."Maya
