Semua Bab SILENT SINS: Bab 131 - Bab 140

Kai chose his words with care when he spoke to the children. He sat them down in the living room of the penthouse on a quiet evening, the city lights spread out beyond the glass.“Your mother is away on a structured program,” he said. “She’s getting help with some personal issues that have been affecting her and her work. It’s temporary. She’s focusing on getting stronger so she can come back clearer.”He did not use the word rehab. He did not describe the locked doors or the public collapse. He also did not pretend the children knew nothing. Alex was ten, Lila seven, Lucas seven. Private tutors, phones, and the residual noise of the internet made complete ignorance unlikely. Kai simply refused to give the story more shape than necessary.Lucas absorbed the information in silence, eyes fixed on the floor. In the days that followed he grew quieter, asking only occasional, careful questions about when she might call or whether she had received the drawings he sent through the approved ch

Kai’s body did not adjust to Elara’s absence with any kind of grace. The same drive that had once been directed at his wife, then shared with others, continued without an outlet. He had not visited the facility. Progress summaries arrived on schedule and were read without comment. The tension, however, accumulated. After several days of short temper and restless nights, he made a single call.Selene arrived at the penthouse in the late afternoon while the children were still with their tutors and nannies on a lower floor. There was no pretense of social conversation. Kai met her at his private elevator, closed the door to the master suite, and locked it.What followed was not the negotiated, multi-partner arrangement of the previous months. It was narrower and more severe. Kai’s hands were rough from the start—gripping, positioning, demanding. He stripped her without patience, pushed her onto the bed, and used his mouth on her with focused intensity until her thighs shook. When he ente

Inside the facility the connection between Elara and Tania had moved past careful relief into something neither of them tried to moderate. The structured days still ran on schedule—morning meditation, process groups, skills classes, mandatory exercise, evening community meeting—but the spaces between those obligations had become deliberate. What had begun as stolen, nearly silent contact now carried the weight of mutual need. For both women the physical intensity had replaced the chemical one they were there to leave behind. The high was cleaner, the crash softer, and the craving just as exact. In the shared bathroom the open showers provided the most reliable cover. Water ran hard over tile and skin. Tania would back Elara against the wall, mouth open on hers, one thigh pressed between her legs while her hand worked with focused pressure. Elara’s breathing fractured quickly; she came with her forehead against Tania’s shoulder, the sound lost in the spray. They switched without discuss

At the four-month mark the unit director informed Elara she had a visitor. The news itself was enough to still the corridor for a moment. Kai had never come. Progress summaries had left the facility on schedule; he had never appeared in the visitation room. Now, with her discharge date already circulating in staff conversations, he had decided to walk through the doors. He was shown into the supervised family room carrying a thin folder. Inside were the drawings Lucas had been making and sending through the approved channel for weeks—crude, earnest pictures of the penthouse, of the three children, of a stick-figure mother who was always drawn larger than the others. Kai set the folder on the table between them.“He’s been making these since you left,” he said. “I kept meaning to have them forwarded. The other two ask fewer questions, but they’re with your mother. The whole house is quieter without you in it.”Elara opened the folder. The first page was a wobbly heart with three smaller

The final days inside the facility had taken on a different weight. With Tania gone and the photographs still burned into her mind, Elara moved through the remaining schedule like someone counting down to a sentence rather than a release. She kept thinking about the long chain of losses that had defined her years with Kai—people who had touched her life and then simply ceased to exist. The pattern was clear enough. Staying meant accepting that pattern as permanent. Leaving, even temporarily, meant accepting the risk that came with defying him.She began listening more carefully to the quieter conversations on the unit. A small group of women had been testing the edges of the facility’s security for weeks—shift patterns, camera blind spots, the timing of medication rounds. They still managed to bring substances in despite the rules; the smell and the glazed eyes after certain free-movement periods made that obvious. Elara had stayed clean. The program’s testing confirmed it. But the res
