Amid the crowd's horrified cries, the van slammed on the brakes, coming to a stop inches from my legs."You've got guts! Break one of his legs. William's hoarse roar was cut off abruptly, for the video call was forcibly disconnected.Only the sound of the wind sweeping through the wide-open highway could be heard.The bystanders looked at each other in confusion, and even Bennett's men loosened their hold on me without realizing it.Cecilia clutched her phone, staring blankly at the dark screen.Bennett ducked his chin into his collar and turned to ask her, "Ms. Cecilia, what's going on with Mr. Shaw?
