Angela’s POV The door clicked shut, and the sudden silence in the room felt heavy. It was just me and Xavier now. Steph, Silas, and Darius had gone to get food, their voices fading down the hallway. Xavier insisted on staying back, his argument simple and unshakable: none of us went anywhere alone anymore. I didn’t fight him on it. Honestly, I didn’t want to. We ended up on his bed, my back against his chest, his arms wrapped securely around me. The TV was on, some mindless action movie playing, but neither of us was watching. It was just background noise. It was comfortable. Safe. For a while, we just sat here. ‘So, you still got me blocked?’ His voice wasn’t out loud. It was in my head, a low, familiar rumble that I was starting to recognize as easily as his real one. I felt a slow smile spread across my face. I tilted my head back to look up at him. He was already watching me, a knowing smirk playing on his lips. “Maybe I do,” I said out loud, my voice soft. “Maybe I don’t.”
