When I went to the basement, I looked around, but I couldn’t see him anywhere. I walked between the columns of bookshelves in the library, searching every corner, but there was no sign of him. “Marcus,” I called softly, “please come out. You called me here, and now you’re not even here. What —” Before I could finish, a hand suddenly wrapped around my waist and pinned me gently against the side of a bookshelf. I gasped and looked up, only to find Marcus staring back at me.
