All Chapters of HIS FORBIDDEN OBSESSION : Chapter 31 - Chapter 40

The return to the city felt like stepping back into a pressure cooker. The cliffside hotel had been their private bubble—salt air, endless ocean, and hours lost in each other’s bodies. But reality hit the moment they crossed the bridge back into downtown. Rowan’s phone started buzzing with work messages. Victoria had texted twice asking about “scheduling a public appearance.” And Freya’s own inbox was flooded with gallery inquiries she’d been ignoring while she drowned in Rowan. For the first week back, they existed in a fever dream of stolen moments. He fucked her against the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the glittering city lights, her breasts pressed to the cool glass while he took her from behind with deep, punishing strokes. She rode him on his office chair late one night, slow and sensual, while he gripped her hips and whispered filthy praises against her throat. They barely slept. Every touch felt urgent, like time was running out. But Freya wanted more than just his

The afterglow never lasted long enough. In the days following Marcus’s arrest, a fragile calm settled over the loft, but it felt like the quiet before a hurricane. Rowan’s knuckles were still healing, faint scabs that Freya kissed every night as if she could erase the violence she’d witnessed. He was gentler with her now in some ways—holding her longer, cooking breakfast shirtless while she sat on the counter watching him, stealing slow kisses that tasted like coffee and promises. But the darkness he’d unleashed that night lingered in his eyes, a constant reminder of how far he was willing to go for her. Freya felt changed too. More alive. More reckless. She moved through the loft with a new confidence, wearing his shirts like armor, leaving traces of herself everywhere—her camera on his desk, her perfume on his pillows, her moans still echoing in the walls. She was falling deeper every day, and it terrified her how little she cared about the consequences. The first crack appeared

The morning after their explosive reunion, the illusion of safety shattered completely. Rowan’s phone rang while they were still tangled in the sheets, bodies slick and marked from the night before. He answered on speaker, voice rough with sleep and lingering possessiveness as his fingers idly traced the bite mark on Freya’s shoulder. It was one of his investigators. The news hit like a bomb. Marcus Vale wasn’t working alone. He was a hired pawn. The real threat traced back to one of Rowan’s old military contracts gone wrong—a powerful businessman named Damien Cross whose son had died in an operation Rowan had led years ago. Cross wanted revenge, and he’d been pulling strings for months, using Marcus to get close to Freya as a way to destroy Rowan emotionally before finishing him off. The danger was bigger than they’d imagined. Professional. Calculated. And now it had a face with deep pockets and even deeper grudges. Rowan hung up and stared at the ceiling for a long moment. Fre

The black envelope with its chilling photos and threat marked the true beginning of the end. Rowan discovered it the next morning while Freya was still curled up asleep in his arms, her body warm and marked from their passionate night. He slipped out of bed quietly, opened the envelope in the kitchen, and felt his world tilt. Fresh images—intimate, private moments of them from the night before—stared back at him. The note was simple and terrifying: *Choose wrong, and she dies first.* He stood there for what felt like hours, rain still pattering against the windows, staring at the evidence of how close Cross was. The love they had confessed, the promises made in the heat of passion, the way Freya had given herself to him so completely—it all suddenly felt impossibly fragile. When Freya finally woke and joined him, still wearing nothing but his shirt, he showed her everything. They held each other in the middle of the loft for a long time, her face buried in his chest as the reality

The weeks that followed the final confrontation were a whirlwind of healing, chaos, and hard-earned peace. Rowan spent several days in the hospital getting stitched up from the bullet graze and knife wound. Freya never left his side, sleeping in the uncomfortable chair beside his bed, holding his hand through the pain. The media storm was brutal—Victoria’s public statement had ignited a firestorm of headlines about the “forbidden affair” and the fall of the Kane empire. Elena eventually came around after seeing how fiercely Rowan had fought for Freya, though the road to full forgiveness was still long. But through it all, they had each other. When Rowan was finally discharged, they returned to the loft—now fully theirs. The first night back, they didn’t leave the bedroom. Rowan made love to Freya with a reverence that brought tears to both their eyes. Slow. Deep. Worshipful. He kissed every inch of her body like he was thanking the universe for letting him keep her. She rode him w
